Venezuelaโ€™s case is the second largest external displacement crisis in the world according to the UN. Many asylum seekers have arrived in NYC. These families are in need NOW. What will happen to them next? What can we do to support them?

Thousands of asylum seekers from Latin America have arrived in the city. Why are migrants coming to New York? And what will happen to them next?

Infant mortality rate in Venezuela has risen greatly according to statistics. As illness and the lack of resources in Venezuelan hospitals grow, babies starve and are born with into cardboard boxes. Often times, as illness is so rampant, mothers are not able to breastfeed their children. They rush to hospitals hoping to save their children but are left hopeless when the hospitals tell them that they do not have any baby formula.

Real talk: The crisis has forced Venezuelans to immigrate to other countries...and a lot of people are unreceptive. Sound familiar? It is similar to the immigrant reality in the US. Traveling is tough: people migrate by foot, plane, bus, whatever they can afford. Upon arrival, some countries will set out a plate of food or they will be greeted by cruel muttering and the harsh tone of xenophobia. The longer a Venezuelan stays, the more visible the xenophobia becomes and it is hard to handle. Say no to xenophobia!
