Last night was a smashing success! Cider and cookies were enjoyed, and stress was relieved while over 50 pumpkins met their maker at last night's Pumpkin Smash event.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- The Westminster College Sierra Coalition gathered pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns and sledgehammers for a pumpkin smash Wednesday night outside the Campus Center.

If you can't make it to the Pumpkin Smash but would like to responsibly dispose of your pumpkins, Sierra Student Coalition will organize a Pumpkin Dropoff location on the corner of S Market Street and Waugh Avenue in New Wilmington. The crew will take care of the smashing and composting for you!

Decorating with pumpkins for Halloween? Don't just throw them in the trash can. Be responsible, and smash them with a sledgehammer!

Pumpkin Smash
Wednesday, November 5th
5:00-7:00p
On quad outside of TUB windows

Hosted by Sierra Student Coalition, this interactive composting initiative invites students, faculty, and community members to bring leftover jack-o-lanterns and pumpkins, once used as decoration for Halloween, and SMASH them to pieces using sledgehammers and other blunt objects.

The Sierra Student Coalition will then compost the pieces at the Field Station on campus, responsibly disposing of the orange orbs.

It's a stress relief; it's responsible; it's FUN.

Fall refreshments and music also provided to enhance the vigor of pumpkin-mutilation.
