Big progress in the kitchen — the cabinets are in, and countertops are up next!

It’s hard to believe this area used to be the balcony overlooking the sanctuary. We can’t wait to share when the space is finished!

Our inexpressible gratitude goes out to the First United Methodist Church congregation. This group of amazing people not only helped pioneer NUMAS Haus from the very beginning, but they lent us the use of the shelter house for 9 years. Then in 2024 they gave us the incredible gift of the ownership of both the house and the church building, to be converted into additional shelter space. With the renovations well underway, they have also given us a donation of $20,000 to ensure that our program continues and all our resident families' needs are met. Our deepest thanks go to everyone at First United Methodist Church who has contributed to NUMAS Haus--your gifts will touch lives for years to come. There are not enough words to say how we feel. Bless you all!

NUMAS Haus is honored to be the recipient of a $5,000 grant from the New Ulm Area Foundation for additional tuckpointing and stained glass protection. One of their pillars is historical preservation, and they have been instrumental in helping us restore the former First United Methodist Church. The building has a new purpose and a new lease on life: NUMAS Haus is not only helping to rebuild families, but rebuilding our structure as well. We are proud to partner with the New Ulm Area Foundation in this worthy endeavor. Our profound thanks to NUAF for making it possible!

A thousand thanks to Girls Scouts River Valleys for their donation of 8 cases of Girl Scout cookies. 🍪 YUM! We already know that our moms and little ones will love these sweet treats and I'm betting that there will be an evening of Cookie Bingo! So if you see happy faces all covered with cookie crumbs, it's due to the generosity of Girl Scouts River Valleys. Thank you so much for your kindness!

Our staff and volunteers recently came together to prepare a room for a new resident at NUMAS Haus. 🏡 From cleaning and organizing to adding thoughtful touches, every effort was made to create a warm, welcoming space. It’s more than just a room—it’s a fresh start and a place of comfort. We’re grateful for everyone who helps make this possible. 🧡

We recently got to get our hands dirty planting flowers and veggies as part of our community skills program 🌱🌼

From preparing the soil to planting and watering, everyone played a part—and had a great time doing it! These hands-on experiences help build confidence, teamwork, and a deeper connection to nature.

We can’t wait to watch everything grow! 🌿💚
