Our first Sources of Strength group meeting at New Town High School! 💜💛 We’re excited to bring students together to build connections, strengthen peer support, and promote hope and wellness among our youth. We look forward to growing together and building a stronger, healthier community through Native Connections and Sources of Strength! We have 13 strong and motivated High School youth ready to take on our upcoming campaigns. We also ended up recruiting 2 more youth after the meeting, filling up our max # of students eligible to participate. Go Eagles! 🦅

💜 Native Connections Hope & Healing Walk 💜

Our Native Connections Program hosted a Hope & Healing Walk to bring our community together and raise awareness for su***de prevention across MHA Nation.

We are thankful to all the students, staff, and community members who participated and helped spread the message of hope, healing, and connection. A special thank-you to MHA Sober Living Lodge and Ed Bracklin, House Manager; The Door and Levi Chapin for speaking during the middle and high school assemblies; Church of God Indian Mission; New Town School staff; and the Four Bears Segment Elder Program, including Komiko Garcia and the Maintenance Staff. We appreciate everyone who helped make this event possible.

Su***de prevention is something we all have a part in. By showing up for one another, checking in with our loved ones, and creating safe spaces to talk about mental health, we can remind our youth and community that they are not alone.

Together, we walk for hope, healing, and the well-being of our people. 💜

Our hearts are with our youth, families, and community during this difficult time.

When something painful happens in our community, it can bring up many different emotions. Some may feel scared, angry, overwhelmed, numb, or unsure of what to say. There is no right or wrong way to respond. Please be gentle with yourself and with one another.

As Native Connections, our focus and passion is on supporting the well-being of our youth, families, and community. We encourage everyone to give themselves and others time, space, and compassion as we process what has happened.

We also ask our community to please protect the privacy of those directly affected and to avoid sharing names, photos, details, or information that has not been confirmed through appropriate official sources. Taking a break from social media and difficult conversations is also okay.
