Our story:
In my grandparent’s neighborhood there were always a few dogs running loose. Some of the kids on the street named one of the dogs Crayola. She was a sweet dog, and always ran up my mom and I to grab a little bit of love and attention while she could. The owners of Crayola sold a few of the puppies, but two were still left to run around the streets with their mom. My mother and I saw Cr
ayola every morning as we went to my grandparent’s house. One day, we did not see her. Then another day went by, and another. My mother knew there was something wrong. She looked up all the local shelters online, and there was Crayola and her two pups on the site of a kill-shelter in Titusville, FL. My mom quickly called and told them to hold the dogs as we were going to rescue them. Crayola had only two more days to live, the puppies only a week. The next day we went down to the kill-shelter, and I could not believe my eyes. There were so many puppies and kittens that I knew had the same fate as Crayola and her pups would have, because this was a kill-shelter. These animals were not to be euthanized because the animals were mean, or had a fatal disease. They were to be euthanized just for the lack of funds and space for all of these animals in this kill shelter. My mother and I both saw black trash bags being put in a wheel barrow and dumped into a truck. There must have been 100 trash bags, each filled with a precious pet that could have brought joy to a family. Crayola and her two puppies, Buttercup and Bridget, are safe and sound at our home in New Smyrna Beach, FL. They are the sweetest, most fun-loving dogs. It is sad to think that their fate in less than a week would have been one of those black trash bags. My mother and I decided we had to put a stop to this cruel behavior. This is why we started the Live Love Paws Corporation. Live Love Paws will serve as a platform to educate the public on the growing issue of animal euthanasia due to over population and also to eliminate kill shelters once and for all.
