We went to play Garden Golf today on a beautiful mountain golf course with 7 holes made up of par threes of 30 to 60 yards. Connie carried a Sunday bag with 8 irons, gap wedges and putters and plastic golf balls. We trekked down a steeply sloped path about 100 yards to the first tee. I parred the hole and Connie's first shot was straight at the pin but long (and by long, I mean over the green and down the mountain into the creek). She dropped from the creek with a heroic bogey. Crack...boom..lightning and thunder...100 yards back up the path to the car. Weather permitting, going back tomorrow.

The Rotary Club of Southeast Volusia Golf delivered 60 Bags to Edgewater Elementary to be used for their The High Five Weekend Program. The Care Bags included: Peanut Butter, Jelly, Tuna Fish, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Soap, Shampoo/Conditioner, Aqua Park free entry and a $20 gift card from Winn-Dixie. This project was in collaboration with Edgewater Police Volunteer Association, & Aqua Park

Twenty new members were inducted into Rotary International on Sunday, Dec. 3, the Rotary Club of Southeast Volusia Golf was officially chartered and the new Club's Board of Directors and officers were sworn in. DG John Tabor was a bit under the weather and the ceremony was officiated by PDG Jeffrey Michelman and DGE Mickey Ulmer. Guests at the event included many past District Governors, Asst. Governors, club President's and friends. The club was presented with very generous gifts from the Rotary Clubs of New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Flagler Beach and The Rotary Club of Northeast Florida and a tasty and beautiful cake from fellow Rotarian, Serge Serese ( Mon Delise Bakery). Prior to the official ceremony, 72 golfers enjoyed the inaugural RCSEVG Scramble for Children's Charities.

Christmas Giving! What could be more Rotarian? We were able to bring some joy this holiday season to a single dad raising three young children under the age of ten and a family with an 8 year old little girl. Both families will have some new clothes and new toys under the Christmas Tree. Thank you and great job Rotary Club of Southeast Volusia Golf.

Connie and I went to the Edgewater Rotary Club Thanksgiving dinner tonight. I was asked to say a few words about Saturday's Ride To End Polio. The biggest little club in District 6970 has several members participating. Pres. Peter Stanton and his wife Marilyn got it started with a $500.00 donation to The Rotary Foundation/PolioPlus District 6970 Ride to End Polio. This club loves a throwdown. Steve Holmes followed with$100. Raymond Webb countered with another and it was on. When the dust settled and the last EMTs left the building the podium was covered with $1500.00 in $100s, $50s, $20s and $10s. With the Gates Foundation, this equates to $4500 to help rid the world of Polio and other childhood diseases. Edgewater Rotary is the hardest working, hardest playing, most generous Rotary Club in the District. Thank you!

Tonight was the first official meeting of the Rotary Club of Southeast Volusia Golf. We were visited by Assistant District Governors Hewitt Dupont and Serena Fisher. Also present were Pres. Pete & Marilyn Stanton, Donna Miller and Lindsay Malia from Rotary Edgewater and a member from Rotary NSB. Twenty members of the new club were present. A great start. AG Hewitt Dupont made a donation of $100 and a very generous collection of Happy Dollars was collected by Sergeant at Arms Mike Merchant. Members also brought their donations to the Volusia County Basket Brigade, Volusia County's Thanksgiving food drive. Next week, we'll help with the home deliveries.
