K9 Tango is certified in live scent search, K9 Fawkes in cadaver search & K9 India in ESD detection
EIN 33-1670045 Dogs & horses have played a very important part in my life since childhood. Over the years I have learned training techniques & philosophies from a variety of sources both nationally & internationally. My working dog career started in 2014 with K9 Penny learning live scent searching t
hrough tracking/trailing, which evolved into disaster response air scent training which I started with Tango in 2020. My detection career started in 2019 when I was in North Carolina for 10 months, and had the opportunity to take 5 Human Remains Dectection courses, 4 of which were at Western Carolina University. I have certified with NASAR as a SARTECH 2/FUNSAR searcher multiple times, and have certified 5 K9s through AMPWDA, NAPWDA and USPCA in area search, SAR search, mantrailing, human remains detection and electronic storage device detection. I have a high expectation of myself & my dogs, and we work very hard to make sure we are as prepared as we can be for whatever environment or situation we may encounter on a search. I strive to build a strong partnership with each of my dogs so that we work as 1, and grow our knowledge & abilitie through continuous learning, typically through seminars, webinars, podcasts and weekly training with other handlers. I've been involved in civilian disaster response since 2017, and started working for FEMA soon after in the Recovery Division, an endeavor completely separate from K9 response. Although we are not FEMA Canine certified, we have trained for FEMA certification since 2020 with Tango & started Fawkes on her training in 2022 as soon as she joined our family. I've trained with some amazing Task Forces & disaster response teams across the US on over 25 different rubble piles with a variety of technical difficulty, and exposed both dogs to as many different scenarios & odor profiles we can possibly think of... and others we didn't, thanks to the awesome folks we've been able to train with. K9 India is a rescue to working dog story, like Fawkes. I adopted her in early 2024, and got certified to find electronic storage devices less than a year later. She helps find media devices that have information on them used to put bad guys away for a long time, typically in the fight against Internet Crimes Against Children. The cost to train, maintain and deploy out to searches is primarily self-funded. We are also fortunate to receive donations from individuals & the community. We do not charge for our services to the agencies requesting our help, nor do we request reimbursement for mileage or other expenses. The cost is typically in the 10's of thousands per year for seminars, gas, lodging, maintenance, equipment and certification for all 3 dogs. We love what we do, and are proud of the service we are able to provide, and so appreciate the support and help we have received to be able to continue to serve our community.
