🏠 Talking Leadership at the Iowa Nonprofit Summit

We’re excited to have Homes for Iowa Executive Director Dave Miller joining a panel of Iowa leaders at the 2026 Iowa Nonprofit Summit!

The conversation will focus on something that matters in every organization: "How do we lead people, drive results, empower our teams and stay connected to the mission along the way?"

At Homes for Iowa, we’ve learned that leadership isn’t always about having the perfect plan. It’s about building strong partnerships, trusting the people around you, adapting when things change, and keeping everyone focused on why the work matters.

Dave is looking forward to sharing some of the lessons learned, and, just as importantly, hearing the perspectives of the other panelists and questions from leaders in the room.

🌽 Homes for Iowa EATS – Day 9:
The Final Fair Food Push!

Only a few hours left, so we’re finishing the fair the Iowa way—supporting some of the industries and producers that make our state great! 🐄🐷🥛

Today’s assignments:
🥩 Ribeye Sandwich – supporting our Iowa cattle producers with a State Fair classic.
🍍🐷 Hawaiian Sandwich – sweet, savory, and a great way to support Iowa pork producers.
🍪🍦 Cookie Dough Sundae – because we couldn’t leave out our Iowa dairy producers…and because dessert is basically mandatory at the fair.

Beef. Pork. Dairy. Three great Iowa industries and one very full HFI crew. 😂

It’s been a GREAT day at the fair and an even better couple of weeks meeting so many of you!

We’re getting serious now. One of the TOP 3 Best New Foods at the 2026 Iowa State Fair! 🏆

Today’s assignment:
🐷 Porky Parm Gnocchi
📍 Destination Grille

Gluten-free potato gnocchi + Graziano sausage + creamy parmesan sauce + pesto + shaved parmesan.

Basically, someone snuck a legit restaurant meal onto the fairgrounds. 😂

The reviews said it was worth the hype…and we agree.

⭐ 14/10

Worth the line?
👍 ABSOLUTELY. Creamy, cheesy, plenty of sausage—and a nice change of pace after everything we’ve eaten on a stick.

At this point, Homes for Iowa EATS may need to add an afternoon nap to the employee benefits package.

We are always ready to chat talking housing at the fair, but somebody has to do the important research too. 🐷🇺🇸

Today’s assignment:
🥓 Star Spangled Swine from Whatcha Smokin’
🔥 Pork belly + jalapeño sausage

Official review: Delicious. Smoky. Spicy. Completely unnecessary…and absolutely necessary.

Side effects: A serious case of the meat sweats. 😂

⭐ 9.3/10
👍 Worth it? Come hungry. Leave with no regrets…and maybe find some air conditioning.
