We are in our fifth year, have 12 gardeners, and are hoping to collaborate with other gardeners and their projects! Thanks to grant money, we have our new shed built and a 6 ft cedar post fence surrounding the growing space! While we work to amend our soil, expand our plants that attract pollinators, we strive to share produce and educate our children. Since it's initial season, our garden has pro
vided a growing plot designed to feed our seniors and anyone who discovers a ripe veggie. Every year the plants in our "giving garden" have been donated by many local growers in town. The response has been so positive, and we are pleased. Our children's garden has been promoted through the New Salem Public Library, building educating moments and fun! We are just beginning to make our dreams a reality, raising enough money for a shed, expanding our growing space, planning fencing options, and joining with other community groups to include bird houses and a bat house! Our Agricultural Commission leads the Community Garden project, and our gardeners are passionate about making dreams come true! We have provided educational opportunities this winter, free to those who attend. Our topics this year have been organic gardening, bulk ordering, no till gardening and pollinator facilitation.
