The New Salem Ice Rink is officially open! And with a cozy new warming house. We're proud to have provided partial funding for this project over recent years, and we thank the New Salem Park District for their hard work and many hours put in each year to make this happen.

The new Warming House is looking great, New Salem Park District!

During the Fall 2025 Grant Round, the New Salem Area Community Grant Foundation awarded $7,500 to the New Salem Park District for the construction of a warming house at the New Salem Community Ice Rink. The structure will double as a storage space during off-season. Committee member's agreed on the value of having a warm space available to families as they enjoy the new ice rink.

During the Fall 2025 Grant Round, the New Salem Area Community Grant Foundation awarded:

$25,000 to the Almont Fire Department for the purchase and installation of an Emergency Power Generator for the Firehall. The Grant Committee agreed with the Fire Department on the importance off emergency services having backup power in the case of an outage, especially during winter.

From the application:
"The people in our fire district and surrounding fire districts will benefit by ensuring our building will be safe if there is a power outage. It will also benefit the people in the community if the electricity goes out, they will have somewhere safe and warm to go."

During the Fall 2025 Grant Round, the New Salem Area Community Grant Foundation awarded:

$20,000 to the City of Almont for upgrades to the City Park during the summer of 2026. Work is to include tree removal, privacy fencing, picnic tables and updates to the restrooms. Committee members discussed the importance of this park, and look forward to seeing families enjoy the space for many years to come.

During the Fall 2025 Grant Round, the New Salem Area Community Grant Foundation awarded:

$11,981.96 to the City of New Salem for sheetrock work to the City Shop's ceiling below the Auditorium Gymnasium. The Committee agreed that this is an important project to keep fumes and fire from spreading throughout the building.

From the application:
"Sheetrocking and painting the shop ceiling will not only help reduce permeating fumes and noises, but most importantly serve as a fire barrier between the city shop and the rest of our historic building."

The New Salem Area Community Foundation (NSCF) has announced that it will be holding it’s second grant round in 2025 for organizations who provide services in New Salem, Almont, & East into Mandan.

Organizations may apply in both Spring and Fall grant rounds, with approximately $60,000 available in the “regular” fall grant round and a special ONE-TIME GRANT with $924,000 available for a single capital project.

APPLY TODAY, ONLINE at www.NDCF.net/NewSalem (“Apply for Grant” tab then “Apply Here” button). Applications are due by September 29th, 2025. The Foundation advisory committee will discuss the applications and determine grant awards shortly after the deadline.

During the Spring 2025 Grant Round, New Salem Area Community Grant Foundation awarded:

$35,000 to the New Salem Community Betterment Committee for the construction of a "Welcome to New Salem" sign at the corner owned by Security First Bank of New Salem. The new sign will feature a digital screen with time and temperature readings.

$10,000 to the New Salem Ambulance Service for EMS Training, helping ensure the squad can continue serving the New Salem area with high quality emergency medical service.

The New Salem ice rink looks amazing!

During the Spring 2024 Grant Round, New Salem Area Community Grant Foundation awarded $17,804 to the New Salem Park Board for the construction of an Ice Skating Rink at W.H. Mann Pioneer Park near the New Salem City Pool. This is an exciting project, and the Grant Committee was happy to approve it in full. The new Rink is 52' x 100', a bit larger than a standard basketball court.
