⚖️ Exploring the legal field and opening doors to new opportunities!

This summer, BGCNR participants got an inside look at careers in law and the court system through our Legal Careers Pathway Program, offered in partnership with the New York State Unified Court System and the Bronx Supreme Court, Civil Term.

Participants explored different legal careers, learned about the roles of professionals throughout the court system and developed valuable skills in communication, critical thinking, professionalism and workplace readiness.

Eighteen participants successfully completed and graduated from the program, and for half of them, the experience is continuing beyond graduation!

Nine participants secured internships with staff at the Bronx Supreme Court, giving them the opportunity to gain real workplace experience and continue exploring potential careers in the legal field. 🙌

Congratulations to all 18 graduates, and thank you to our partners for helping our young people see firsthand where a career in law can take them! 💙

During our introductory Art Animation session, BGCNR members got a first look at what they’ll be creating and the new skills they’ll develop throughout the program. 🎨

Each member received their own sketch pad and flip book, which they’ll use to explore animation, build their artistic skills and turn their ideas into stories through art. ✏️

We can’t wait to see where their creativity takes them!

During our introductory Bracelet Making class, BGCNR members created bracelets featuring their names, favorite colors and a charm that represented something they enjoy or that was meaningful to them.

Once their bracelets were complete, members used their creations to introduce themselves and learn more about one another.

It was a fun, hands-on way to encourage creativity, self-expression and new connections at the Club! 🫶

BGCNR members kicked off the new program year by creating their own First Day Shades and snapping a few selfies with our staff. 💙

During orientation, members also got familiar with their schedules, reviewed important safety rules and learned more about all the programs and activities they’ll have the chance to participate in this year.

Welcome back to all of our returning members and a big welcome to everyone joining the Club for the first time! We’re excited for a great year ahead. 🌟

🎓 From career training to real career opportunities!

BGCNR Career Pathway graduates recently had the opportunity to share where their experiences have taken them at the Mariano Rivera Foundation Save 653 Invitational.

David B. spoke about his journey from participating in our Police Career Pathway Program to becoming a New Rochelle police officer, showing firsthand how mentorship and professional preparation can help turn a career goal into reality. 👮

Our Culinary Career Pathway graduates were also part of the evening, helping prepare and serve the meal for guests. Among them was Jahmel H., who earned his ServSafe certification through the program and went on to receive a job offer from Alvin & Friends. 🍽️

Throughout the event, other graduates connected with guests and shared their own Career Pathway experiences and accomplishments.

We’re grateful to the Mariano Rivera Foundation for continuing to invest in opportunities that give young adults practical experience, professional connections and the support to take meaningful steps toward their futures. 💙
