After being postponed last month, the Public Hearing on the Downtown Development Plan revision is now officially re-scheduled, so join us on April 14th, 7:00 PM at City Hall to let our elected officials know what we think of it.

There are a few positive changes in the revision, but overall the plan is still heading in the wrong direction. The plan allows for even more units (13,347 residential units vs 10,547 units currently allowed... and, as a reminder, in 2015, the original limit was just 5,500 units), and it does not adequately address the: green space, traffic, parking and one-sided developer tax break concerns of MANY residents.

This public hearing is a great forum to let your voice be heard. Since this is governed by NY State Law all comments will be logged and responded to in writing in the next version of the amendment document.

Hope to see you there!

UPDATE: We're not sure why, but the Development Amendment Public Hearing has been postponed from March 10th to April 14th. There is still the normal City Council / Citizens to be Heard on March 10th at 7:00PM, so many of us will still be going to voice our concerns.

For anyone that missed our original post about the Development Amendment I'm including that below:

Join us on March 10th (>>now April 14th), 7:00 PM at City Hall. The New Rochelle City Council will be holding a Public Hearing on a Downtown Development Plan revision they are working on.

Join us on February 24th, 7:00 PM at City Hall. The New Rochelle Planning Board will be holding a Public Hearing and vote on the 28 Story, 504 Unit (with only 371 parking spaces), 570 Main St luxury high-rise proposal.

This project would add EVEN MORE density to a tiny corner of the development zone that has already absorbed 56% of the new units. This density has caused: severe traffic + parking issues, "wind tunnel effects" as well as air quality and natural light impacts in this area. In other words, this project would contribute to more overdevelopment issues WITHOUT providing real benefits to the community.

Use this public hearing as a forum to let your voice be heard. We had a great turnout and impact last time, and we can again.

Hope to see you there!
