Ever feel like you have opinions about the world but no idea what to actually do with them? This is where you figure that out!

Changemakers is open to all Westchester high school teens in grades 9-12 who are ready to turn their passion into action.

🗣️ Find your voice — learn to speak across difference and show up for your community
🤝 Build community — hands-on service projects + visits to local organizations making a difference in our community 
💡 Take action — turn an issue you care about into a real final project, building skills in civic literacy, public speaking & coalition-building

This is a yearlong commitment — we meet monthly and participate in community service and other WYA programming. By the end of the year, you'll walk away with a stronger sense of self, a portfolio-worthy project, and a crew of peers just as fired up about change as you are.

Congratulations to Westchester Youth Alliance on receiving its first Leonian Foundation grant in support of Arts and Activism Photography Summer 2026 Workshop. Inspired by Gordon Parks’ work, WYA's summer photography workshop teaches teens to use the camera as a tool for visual storytelling and social justice.

This August, teens will spend three weeks learning to capture powerful images while exploring the social issues that matter most to them — guided by teaching artists Barry Mason and Marisa Scheinfeld.

🎓 Open to high school students (grades 8–12)
