aims to improve the quality of life of young people through Positive Youth Development in a safe and supportive environment, encouraging youth to become active, productive members of their families, schools and communities. Power of Peace is a succession of experiential workshops designed to enable young people to become skilled at, experience and apply the knowledge of resolving conflicts, understanding, teamwork and cooperation and respect for others who are different so that their schools and communities are safer and more productive places for themselves and their peers.

WHAT ARE YOU PLANTING IN PEOPLE?

Short-term thinkers plant gardens.
Long-term thinkers plant trees.
Eternity-minded thinkers plant themselves in the souls of others.

I’ve learned that the most powerful thing you can leave behind isn’t something with your name on it. It’s the courage you helped someone find. The hope you gave them when they were ready to quit. The words they still carry years after you spoke them.

That’s how one life creates a ripple effect.

Today, encourage someone. Listen to them. Remind them they matter. Plant something in a soul that will keep growing long after you leave the room.

I asked the students, “When do you feel good about yourself?”

Then I shared my answer: when a student leaves a message saying I made a difference in their life.

That message tells me they felt heard. It tells me something we shared stayed with them. And it reminds me why I keep showing up.

A SEED CAN’T SHOW YOU ITS FUTURE FROM UNDER THE GROUND.

When you plant a seed, its destiny is concealed. Water it, and what was hidden begins to grow.

I think about the young people I’ll meet as my travel season begins. Some have been buried under pain, doubt, or words that made them question their worth. But I believe there is more in them than their circumstances have allowed them to see.

That’s why I show up. To speak life. To make space for them to be heard. To remind them that they are still growing.

The Power of Peace train is back on the move! 🚂

To every young person I’m about to meet: you are not buried. You are planted.

Healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy.

Throwback to the moment I sang a song with one of my students’ names in it and joked that the song made her famous! 😂🎶

In the Power of Peace, we confront inner trauma, but we also laugh, connect, and enjoy the process. Sometimes a little joy creates the safety needed to do the deeper work.

We can heal and still have fun along the way.

FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO A BLACK-TIE HONOR

This throwback from my Facebook memories takes me back to the night I received an award from 100 Men of Color for my work in the community.

People call it “rags to riches.” For me, it means rising from humble beginnings.

The little boy I once was had to create stability inside an unstable world. My coaches became father figures. My teammates became brothers and sisters. The encouragement I received through sports gave me the confidence and belonging I needed to survive some difficult times.

What carried me through? Perspective.

I protected my thought life. I refused to let my surroundings determine my future. Today, everything I survived has become fuel to encourage, inspire, and empower others.

We are all products of our thought lives. Guard your mind, change your perspective, and never allow your beginning to dictate your ending.

WHO’S DRIVING YOUR CAR?

Negative words spoken over you can survive long after the person who said them is gone. Trauma that is never addressed doesn’t disappear it takes the wheel, controls your direction, and makes decisions for your future.

I DON’T LOOK LIKE WHAT I’VE BEEN THROUGH!

What some people call a fight with life, I call normal.

I’ve lost possessions, friendships, strength, courage, time, and money in the battle but I never lost my faith.

Life is a course, and too many people accept an incomplete. Not me. I didn’t come this far to quit before the finish line.

I thank God every day that I don’t look like what I’ve survived!
