Today was NRHEG FFA Drive Your Tractor to School Day! Twelve students participated in the event representing a wide variety of brands and colors of tractors.

Thank you to all the parents, farmers and tractor owners who helped enable these fantastic students to drive tractors to school. We appreciate your support and couldn't make it happen without you! Also thanks to Kibble Equipment for providing t-shirts and Corn Palace Ag Center for allowing us to use their lot.

Thanks to all the teachers and students that made it out to see the tractors and drivers! Spectators had the option to vote for the Best of Show and to leave positive comments for the drivers.

Here are the results for the 2026 NRHEG FFA Drive Your Tractor to School Day:
2nd Runner Up - Aiden Louks with his Oliver 77.
1st Runner Up - Jacob Lewer with his International 966.
Best of Show - Breckyn Moen with his John Deere 9530T.

Sometimes, in education, a new lesson comes from nowhere. Sometimes from the ground we walk on. This cherry tomato plant is one of those lessons. As you can see, it is massive. It is growing in a mixture of gravel and sand that borders the greenhouse for drainage. We didn't plant it. Some seed must have fallen there and it just started growing and, being a teacher I'll let it grow because curiosity is the key to learning sometime. What's feeding it? The water from our fish tank when I flush out the waste. It is basically living off of an unplanned aquaponic system. This marriage of hydroponics and aquaculture is an important method that is already feeding people in our food challenged world. Not to mention the cherry tomato plant in our greenhouse.
