Wharton Arts announces that Helen H. Cha-Pyo will transition out of her role as Artistic Director at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 season, continuing her leadership as Music Director and Conductor of the New Jersey Youth Symphony.

Over the past eight years, Helen has helped shape Wharton Arts into New Jersey's largest nonprofit performing arts education organization, serving nearly 2,000 students annually across 12 counties. Her leadership unified the organization's programs under a shared artistic vision, expanded educational opportunities, strengthened community partnerships, and advanced Wharton Arts' commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and artistic excellence.

We are deeply grateful for Helen's extraordinary leadership and look forward to her continued impact with NJYS.

At Wharton Arts, we believe in the power of the arts to amplify voices, tell stories, and inspire change. Today and every day, we honor the contributions of Black artists, musicians, and changemakers who shape our world and enrich our communities.

🎼 A season to remember with composer Quinn Mason.

This year, NJYS had the honor of performing Mason’s newly commissioned work, Electric Beauty, on two occasions: first during Sound Beyond Sight in February and again at Voices of the North in April. These performances gave our students the unique opportunity to bring a contemporary work to life and share it with audiences across the season.

Students also had the chance to learn directly from Mason during the online workshop, From Idea to Score: Inside the Creative Process with Composer Quinn Mason. The session offered a behind-the-scenes look at how a musical idea develops into a finished composition and provided valuable insight into the creative process.

A heartfelt thank you to The Galanthus Foundation Trust for making these inspiring artistic experiences possible for our students. 🎢✨
