Have you saved the date for October 17th's Craft Fair?
Today we're featuring crafter Nadine Rogalla who owns a Chatham based crochet business that focuses on seasonal decorations, accessories and gifts; e.g. ornaments, gift card holders and wall decor. All articles are handmade with love in a smoke-free and pet-free environment.

Don't forget the Craft Fair this Saturday, Oct 17 from 10-3

Today we're learning about Sara and Kirill, both new to the fair and sharing a table:

"I make many kinds of beaded art. This includes necklaces, bracelets, cuffs, and 3D bead art. As for the 3D beaded crafts, I make a large variety of different animals and objects such as rabbits, Hello Kitty, unicorns, penguins, and pokeballs. I have been making and designing all of my 3D beaded art (with the exception of the pokeballs) for over ten years, and I've seen that children in particular love the things I make!"

"I am sort of obsessed with how a single strand of wire, looped around itself, can create the illusion of a 3D shape. I often find myself getting lost in it for hours at a time, even just looking at each piece. It's always interesting how while all of these pieces have very similar designs and frequently repeating patterns, there is always simething subtle, but significant about a curve, whether it be the magnitude, the angle, or the orientation."

Our Annual Craft Fair is just over a week away: 10-3 on Sat, Oct 17th!

New to the fair this year, Melissa Bragg-Krishnamurthy is a New Jersey-based artist and educator with over 25 years of experience teaching children through adults across public schools, community programs and art institutions. She specializes in ceramics (wheel throwing and hand-building), mixed media, jewelry, foundational art skills, and curriculum development. She is passionate about fostering creativity, confidence, and technical growth in students of all ages through hands-on instruction. Melissa is currently a ceramics instructor at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit. She is also a member of the Long Beach Island Foundation for the Arts and Sciences and the Potters Guild of New Jersey. She often gets inspiration from the ocean in LBI and from nature as she works in her home studio in Watchung, NJ.

Though this is Joyce Bradley Luzzi's first year at the Craft Fair, she is not new to showing her art at the library, once in a one woman art show and several times in the NP Community Art Show.

For this year's Craft Fair Joyce is bringing her French Seam Pillowcases that she designs and sews for all holidays and occasions. These pillowcases make great hostess gifts, are wonderful additions to college care packages, and who wouldn't want to wake up to a Happy Birthday pillowcase on their birthday? There are Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Valentine's Day, Happy Birthday pillowcases and so many more for both young and old.

Joyce is also bringing her handmade greeting cards that she makes from prints of some of her watercolor paintings along with some of her original designed Christmas ornaments.
She is looking forward to seeing you at the Craft Fair on October 17th.

It's OCTOBER - our Oct 17th Craft Fair is in two weeks!

Today we're featuring veteran crafter Enchanted Forest Crafts. In her real life, Wendi is an environmental educator, both professionally at the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and as a docent at the Turtle Back Zoo. She is constantly inspired by the wild and wonderful living things she encounters. She says it is great fun to create fantastical versions of creatures both real and imagined to share with others.

Wendi tries to work with environmentally friendly materials whenever possible. Much of the felt for the ornaments is made from recycled plastic water bottles. The majority of the fabric, ribbon, buttons, and thread used for the soft sculpture animals are thrifted and upcycled. A portion of the sales of her artwork is donated to nature conservation charities, both local and international.

Nancy Ori artist talk October 6, 7:15pm, at the New Providence Library.

Come to the New Providence Memorial Library on Tuesday, October 6, at 7:15pm, to see well-known local photographer and educator, Nancy J. Ori, give a photographic tour of Union County history. Her exhibit, the "Four Centuries Story," is hosted by the Friends of New Providence Memorial Library and is currently on view through October 14. A public reception will follow Nancy's lecture.
