Prom Collective is an initiative started to help teens in low-income households attend their prom at little or no cost.

Our goal is to help teens from low-income households attend their prom at little or no cost because every teen should have the opportunity to attend their special night. To be able to shop, students must be eligible to attend prom. A recommendation from a guidance counselor, as well as meeting the requirements for financial hardship.

It is with a truly heavy heart that we share this news: Prom Collective will not open its doors this year.

We have poured our time, our energy, and our faith into making this dream happen. We knocked on doors. We sent the emails. We made the calls. We mailed the letters. We attended events with our booth. We believed that when people understood what this mission meant for our teens, they would stand with us. Despite every effort to secure sponsorships and support, we simply could not gather the resources needed to serve our youth this season.

This organization was never about dresses or tuxedos. It was about dignity. It was about confidence. It was about making sure no young person in our county feels left out of a milestone moment because of circumstances beyond their control. It was about seeing our youth walk into prom knowing they are valued, seen, and celebrated.

We truly believed our community shared that vision — that together, we would rally around our young people and invest in their memories, their confidence, and their futures. While this year has not unfolded the way we hoped, we refuse to believe the story ends here.

We will continue working behind the scenes. We will continue building, connecting, and believing. And our hope is that next year, with renewed strength and greater support, Prom Collective can return stronger than ever to provide the services and encouragement our teens so deeply deserve.

Thank you to everyone who believed in this mission. This is not goodbye — it’s simply a pause while we prepare for a stronger comeback.

We are getting down to the wire and our little "shop" will be opening in a couple months. We are in desperate need of monetary sponsors as well as restaurant businesses, hair & makeup artists, alterations specialists, and limo services. We also need more clothes for our teens to choose from.

Prom Collective is a 501(c)(3). We exist to ensure that every teen has the opportunity to attend and fully enjoy prom - one of the most memorable and defining milestones in a teen's life.

Prom is more than just a dance. It's a rite of passage, a celebration of personal achievement, and a powerful moment of self-expression and inclusion. Yet, for many students from low-income families, the cost of prom, including formalwear, tickets, transportation, and other expenses, can be overwhelming and exclusionary.

Prom Collective wants to break down those exclusionary barriers, but we need the community. We need others who care about our kids.

Will you join us?

Prom Collective has a big need…

Commercial Heavy Duty Clothing Racks

I have tried two different ones to hang the dresses on and both have collapsed under the weight. If you have one tall enough (at least 62”) to hang long dresses that you aren’t using and can donate, it would be much appreciated! **sample below**

Hi everyone! It's time for me to get into "go-mode!" I need prom dresses, suits, accessories, donations, and sponsors. You can contact me to arrange pick up of clothing/accessories or you can go to promcollective.org/donate to become a sponsor. It takes a village and I think I live in a pretty great one!

I’ve been asked several times this past week why I chose the color purple to represent Prom Collective and here it is…💜

Why Purple?
For us, purple is more than a color—it’s a symbol of courage, resilience, and hope. Historically, it has honored sacrifice and valor, reminding us of the strength it takes to overcome challenges. Psychologically, purple also brings calm and peace, helping to ease fear and anxiety. And with its deep ties to wisdom and dignity, purple reflects the respect and compassion we strive to show in our mission. It embodies the heart of our work: lifting others up with understanding, strength, and care.💜

Did you know the overall poverty rate in Pasco County hovers around 10.5–10.7%, a significantly higher share of our youth faces economic hardship—between 11% and 14.7% of children and teenagers live below the poverty line. This disparity reflects that many of our county’s young residents lack reliable access to essentials like stable housing, nutritious meals, healthcare, and academic support. Investing in programs to uplift teens in need isn’t just compassionate—it’s a strong strategy to build healthier, more academically successful communities and prevent long-term social and economic consequences. Prom Collective was formed and exists to alleviate the additional financial strain of prom because memories that special should belong to everyone.

I'm thrilled to introduce something incredibly close to my heart: Prom Collective and I want to give a huge shoutout to Mama Means Business for collaborating with me!

Prom Collective is a nonprofit organization with a mission to ensure that every high school student at Anclote, Fivay, Gulf, Hudson, Mitchell, River Ridge, and Sunlake High Schools has the opportunity to attend and fully enjoy prom—one of the most memorable and defining milestones of teenage life.

Prom is more than just a dance. It's a rite of passage, a celebration of personal achievement, and a powerful moment of self-expression and inclusion. Yet, for many students from low-income families, the cost of prom—including formalwear, tickets, transportation, and other expenses—can be overwhelming and exclusionary.

That’s where Prom Collective comes in.

Through generous community partnerships, donations, and volunteer support, we provide free formal attire, financial assistance, and essential prom-related services to students in need. Our goal is to break down financial barriers and create a prom experience that honors each student’s dignity, builds confidence, and brings joy.

As someone who has worked in the school system, raised children in it, and connected with countless teens through my photography work, I’ve seen firsthand how many students miss out on prom simply because the cost is too high. For many families, it’s a heartbreaking choice between basic necessities and a milestone moment. Prom Collective exists to ease that burden—one dress, one tux, one ticket at a time.

Our mission is to inspire confidence and celebrate every student by providing not just attire, but a full prom experience—including hair and makeup, limo service, dinner, and tickets—completely free of charge. While we care about the sequins and bowties, our focus is truly on dignity, inclusion, and empowerment.

We’ve submitted our application for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status with the IRS and are awaiting confirmation. In the meantime, we’re actively seeking passionate, driven individuals to join our Board of Directors. If this mission speaks to you, we invite you to apply by scanning the QR code. Applications will be accepted through **September 5, 2025**.

We are also currently accepting clothing donations! If you have new or gently used formalwear to give, please email [email protected] to schedule a drop-off.

Let’s create a prom experience that every teen deserves—together.
