How did the Clubwoman spend the afternoon of Federation Day you ask?

Well we visited Anclote Elementary school and donated seven trees to be planted on their campus in honor of Arbor Day!

Joining us for the dedication were Jennifer Jaworski, Principal; Jennifer Candiloro, Asst. Principal; Mike Woodard, Pasco County Arborist; and clubwomen Barbara Karnay, Dawn Behen, and Shannon Brewer.

We also have two trees that will be planted at the West Elfers Cemetery at the edge of the Pauper’s section of that cemetery. We hope to also get a historical sign there to mark off that section of the cemetery.

A total of 16 trees getting planted with a goal of many more in the future.

How did the GFWC Nature Coast clubwomen spend GFWC Federation Day? We started off our morning with a donation of seven slash pines trees, one for each grade and the special education section to add to their campus grounds at Moonlake Elementry School in New Port Richey in honor of Arbor Day. We are pictured with one of the pines as the other trees have already been moved to where they are being planted.

Joining us for the dedication were; Christine Roppolo, Asst Principal of Moon Lake Elementary; Mike Woodard, Pasco County Arborist; Lisa Yeager, Commissioner, District 4, Board of County Commissioners; Clubwomen Barbara Karnay, President; Shannon Brewer, Treasurer; and Dawn Behen, Vice-President.

Special thanks to Christina at Pasco County Parks & Recreation Department, for all the help in coordinating the availability and delivery of the trees while their department is also now battling multiple wildfires in this county.

We also delivered to Meaghan Windisch, the Special Education administrator, 55 beaded fidget chains that were assembled by clubwomen Barbara Karnay, Chris DuVall, and Dawn Behen.

International Women's Day 2026 theme is 'Give To Gain'

When we give, we gain.

Together, let's help forge gender equality through abundant giving.

The IWD 2026 Give To Gain Campaign encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration.

Give To Gain emphasizes the power of reciprocity and support. When people, organizations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Giving is not a subtraction, it's intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise.

Whether through donations, knowledge, resources, infrastructure, visibility, advocacy, education, training, mentoring, or time, contributing to women's advancement helps create a more supportive and interconnected world.

What will you Give to Gain gender equality?

GFWC Pasco Junior Women’s Club took the proceeds from their Breakfast With Santa fundraiser, and partnered with funds donated by the GFWC Nature Coast Woman's Club, to go Angel Tree Shopping. Gifts were purchased for fifteen 4th & 5th grade students.

Donations were also pooled by our sister Nature Coast club to give gift cards to the teacher who coordinated the school’s Angel Tree program. As a Title 1 school with a population of almost 80% low income families, the need was great. In addition to coordinating this program, and teaching, this teacher is also a single mom AND undergoing treatment for cancer.

Pictured L to R are: GFWC Pasco Junior clubwomen Dawn Behen, Becky Smith, and Robyn Lindsey, along with the teacher, and school vice-principal at Anclote Elementary.
