Monday June 8th was a wonderful visit from Lisa Halbert and Easton Cable to our Kiwanis meeting.

Lisa is the chair for Horseshoe Days and updated us about schedule of events. There is a new flyer - which we recently posted - with the schedule of events, free family activities, food vendors, and fundraisers. She also needs volunteers to help with manning the bouncy house - so contact Lisa if you can help this Saturday at the Horseshoe Days.

Easton shared his experiences in Japan as he recently returned from serving a mission there. He brought souvenirs to show us, explained what their food is like, taught us what their language is like, and even wore clothing he purchased in Japan to show what they wear.

Thank you to both Lisa and Easton for taking the time out to visit the Kiwanis today!

Last week, Hope Hailey and her mother Renee Hailey, joined our Kiwanis meeting to share with us how the students from the BPA did at Nationals. They were both a delight as they shared the experiences from the Nationals event in Nashville, Tennessee last month. Thank you Mrs. Hailey for all your support and dedication to the kids!

Recently, we had 2 guests take the time out of their busy day to visit with our Kiwanis group. We were blessed to have Megan Parrott and Wade Wilson share their experiences with us.

Megan Parrott is 17 years old and is the Queen for the Payette Valley Riders. She attends 1 rodeo per weekend. She also participates in parades through the summer. This is a volunteer opportunity - her only prize is a crown and a belt buckle. Her Horse's name is Angel, which she has had for 10 years. She was a delight and has learned so much from this experience.

Mr. Wade Wilson, New Plymouth School District Superintendent, updated us with what is going on currently at the school district. It was very enlightening to learn about the budget cut backs from the state funds and how that will affect the New Plymouth School District.

Thank you again to both of you.

Make sure you get your ducks before Saturday's race down the canal! Looks like a fun family day!
