Our Club was founded in 1917 as the first small town Rotary Club in the United States. Today, the New Phila Rotary includes 42 members.

Tuesday night, we traded our regular Rotary meeting for something much more important... celebrating two incredible people who have helped shape the New Philadelphia Rotary Club for years.

Carey Gardner and Tom Police have been so much more than Rotarians. They've been mentors, leaders, friends, and the driving force behind countless projects that have made a lasting impact on our club and throughout our community.

While we're heartbroken to see them move away, we know one thing for certain: their legacy isn't going anywhere. The projects they've championed, the lives they've touched, and the example they've set will continue to inspire us for years to come.

And let's be honest... just because they're moving doesn't mean they're getting rid of us. 🤪 They'll still be hearing from us regularly with emails, phone calls, questions, and updates.

Thank you, Carey and Tom, for everything you've given to Rotary, to New Philadelphia, and to all of us who have had the privilege of serving alongside you. You will be deeply missed, but you'll always be part of our Rotary family. 💙💛

Our Rotary family is heartbroken by the passing of one of our most beloved members, Nate Kamban.

Nate was a true generational Rotarian. Following in the footsteps of many members of his family, he joined our club more than 10 years ago after being inducted by his grandfather. From the very beginning, he embodied the Rotary ideal of 'Service Above Self'.

Throughout his years with our club, Nate served on numerous committees and led with unwavering kindness, humility, compassion, and a genuine love for others. He had a remarkable ability to make people laugh, lift spirits, and make everyone around him feel valued.

While we will miss his smile, his humor, and his servant's heart more than words can express, we are incredibly grateful for the time we shared with him and the lasting impact he made on our club and our community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Nate's family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will forever be a part of our Rotary family. 💙💛

Rotarians this week celebrated the tremendous accomplishment of the Boys Track Team from New Philadelphia High School. Coach Jeremy Rodgers brought two of the boys who helped the Quakers win the State Championship in Division Two. Marcus Addleman and Kevin Smith won individual and team honors for their outstanding performances.

Coach Rodgers recapped an outstanding season that saw countless personal bests along with school and meet records broken. It all culminated at the State Track meet where the Quakers literally ran away from the field and won the Division Two Championship

It was quite a week for New Phila Rotarian Michele Milburn. She is wrapping up two years serving as Club President. And to cap her two great years of leadership, her fellow Rotarians voted her as Rotarian of the Year! Presenting the award this week were two Past Presidents, Julie Levengood and Carey Gardner.

Congratulations to Michele and thank you for two outstanding years of service to Rotary and to our community.

This week New Phila Rotarians met our new school Superintendent, Dr. Carole Sutton. A native of Salem, OH, Dr. Sutton has 32 years of experience as an elementary teacher, principal, and school administrator.

The new Superintendent won't officially begin her duties until August 1, but says she's is spending several days each week in New Philadelphia meeting school staff and community members.

Looking to the future, Dr. Sutton says she plans to focus on New Philadelphia's school facility needs and how to address those needs in a way that is supported by the community.

Welcome Dr. Sutton and we hope you will return many times to the New Philadelphia Rotary Club!

New Phila Rotary's next meeting at Park Place at Tuscora Park will be Tuesday, July 7 at noon. Visitors and prospective members are always welcome to join us.

June is the last month of the Rotary year and that means it's time for leadership transition. This week, out-going president Michele Milburn inducted Amy Ansel as the club's new President and Brian Flood as Vice-President. They will begin their duties as of July 1. We also marked the end of Board membership for Julie Levengood who served as President before Michele. Her guidance has been invaluable to our club.

Our program this week was presented by Tanner Immel, Site Supervisor for Schoenbrunn Village and the Fort Laurens Memorial. Tanner updated Rotarians about the exciting developments at Ft. Laurens to re-dedicate the Tomb of the Unknown Patriot, renovate the museum and exhibits, and complete archeology and partially rebuild Ft. Laurens on its original site.

At Schoenbrunn Village America 250 is being observed with a Homecoming Picnic Celebration on August 1. The event is being planned in partnership with Moravian Churches in Tusc. Co. The popular Fall Lantern Tours resume on Sept. 11 and 12 from 7:30 to 9:30 pm.

The New Philadelphia Rotary Club is proud to recognize our 2026 Scholarship recipients!

🎓 Gabriela Flores has been awarded a Rotary Leadership Scholarship and will be attending Walsh University to pursue a career in nursing.

🎓 Miranda Lumley has been awarded the Travis Alberts Memorial Scholarship and will be attending the University of Mount Union to study psychology.

This special scholarship was established in memory of Travis Alberts, a beloved and valued member of our Rotary Club whose impact continues to be felt throughout our organization and community. We are grateful that Travis's children, Cameron, Allie, and Ashlyn were able to help present this scholarship and share their father's legacy with a new generation of students. Through this scholarship, Travis's memory and spirit of service will continue to inspire others for years to come.

Congratulations to Gabriela and Miranda! We wish both of these outstanding young women success as they begin their college journeys and look forward to seeing all they accomplish in the years ahead.

Nothing says community quite like Rotarians rolling up their sleeves at Tuscora Park! 💙

This past Tuesday, members of New Philadelphia Rotary Club spent the evening helping get the park ready for opening weekend! They were spreading mulch, washing down rides, planting flowers, and giving a little extra care to one of our community’s favorite gathering places. 🌸

We can’t wait to see families making memories at the park again this summer! 🎡
