🌟 Learning, Connecting & Investing in Our Community! 🌟

The Pekin Community Betterment Organization had the opportunity to attend “What is Creative Placemaking?”, part of the Regional Placemaking Series hosted by the IU Center for Rural Engagement.

Creative placemaking is about using arts, culture, creativity, and community ideas to strengthen the places we call home. It’s about celebrating what makes a community unique while creating spaces where people want to gather, connect, and be proud of where they live.

A big thank you to the IU Center for Rural Engagement and City of Charlestown, Indiana for bringing communities together to share ideas and learn from one another!

There’s always more we can do when we work together. 🌟

Join Indiana Humanities, the Pekin Community Betterment Organization, and the John Hay Center for a premiere screening of "The Fourth of July in Pekin, IN," a new short documentary about Pekin’s annual Independence Day celebration.

The documentary, directed by local filmmaker Erik Thein, captures the spirit of Pekin’s Fourth of July festivities, a yearly tradition at which generations of residents come together to celebrate the oldest consecutively-celebrated Fourth of July festival in the nation.

After the screening, there will be a brief Q&A with the filmmakers and with community members who have had a hand in organizing the festival.

This event is free and open to the public.

👏🏽 Thank you Washington County Community Foundation! 🍃

Thank you to our generous donors! The Town of New Pekin received a $10,000 grant to Refinish the Concrete Floors of Community Building. This will update the heavily utilized floors of the community building at Pekin Park, making them more appealing, easier to clean, and safer. Thank you, donors!

The Pekin Community Betterment Organization extends our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of John Roberts.

John dedicated much of his life to serving the Pekin community and was a valued member of our organization for many years. His kindness and commitment to making Pekin a better place will not be forgotten.
