The Defenders of New Paltz We defend New Paltz however we can. The Defenders is basically a "gang for good".

We train in the ways of the martial arts, weaponry, peaceful communication, and defensive methods. Mostly constructed of teenagers and young adults, we can easily and understandably be misconstrued for a bunch of stoners that play tag; Although our "off-duty" hobbies include free-running, sparring, toking, pranking, creating music/art/stories, and basically playing life like a video game. We aim t

o protect the ways of New Paltz, as well as the good people and vibes within it, to the best of our ability keeping everything we can in mind whilst doing so.

SEPTEMBER 10, 2020 Accident Release

The New Paltz Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle/pedestrian accident that occurred on Main Street at about 3:54pm today.

Main Street from North Front Street to Springtown Road remains closed. We will release additional information when it becomes available.

The New Paltz Police Department is being assisted by the New York State Police, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, SUNY New Paltz Police Department, the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, New Paltz Fire Department, New Paltz Rescue Squad, and Village DPW.
