“Six Feet Under Huguenot Street” tour.
Enjoy an evening in the historic "Old Huguenot Burying Ground" every Friday in September. Hosted by Historic Huguenot Street.

Do you know what this gravestone says? 🪦

Margaret VanBommel Deyo’s gravestone is just one of many highlighted on this month’s “Six Feet Under Huguenot Street” tour. Enjoy an evening in our historic "Old Huguenot Burying Ground" every Friday in September, visiting various stones stretching back to the earliest generations of European settlers in New Paltz and exploring the development of the community through the final resting places of its residents.

Typical of older Dutch-style stones, Margaret VanBommel Deyo is listed by her maiden name (MVBM) followed by “EDHOS,” an 18th century version of our modern R.I.P. - seen on gravestones across the Dutch empire in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.
