New Pal Scouting: Troop 244

Well it was a summer camp week to remember! In addition to the typical shenanigans of merit badge classes, horseback riding, swimming, ATVs, water skiing, Firecrafter activities, OA callouts, and so many other activities, we also celebrated Rob Bindewald’s Minisino crowning and we had an overnight severe weather evacuation to our designated storm shelter by way of a very muddy trail in the middle of the night!! Our Scouts tackled the week with tenacity, courage, and fortitude. Well done, gentlemen.

We are proud of our outgoing Scoutmaster, Rob Bindewald, for his dedication to Firecrafter and all of the other amazing things that he does in our community! He is still continuing with the scouting movement and will serve our Troop as one of our Assistant Scoutmasters while also looking for new opportunities to engage in service in our district and council.

This evening at Ransburg Scout Reservation Rob Bindewald was honored with Minisino! Rob is the outgoing Scoutmaster of Fall Creek Troop 244, an educator, and a dedicated Firecrafter! Congratulations Rob!

We have passed the midpoint of our week at Ransburg Scout Reservation! Here is just a quick sampling of our Scouts. They are all participating in a variety of activities including: merit badge classes, high adventure activities with Ransburg X, and investing in the Firecrafter program! Our adults are staying busy keeping up with our Scouts!

These guys are at Ransburg Scout Reservation, this week! Watch out for photos of their adventures sometime soon; right now we’re busy having fun!!!

The goal is to post several pictures tomorrow. Our Scouts are doing great as they’ve done activities like chess, first aid, water skiing, disc golf, swimming, and fire by friction! Many of them are getting upwards of 8 miles of walking and hiking around camp every day. Lots to share soon…

Scenes from tonight’s Court of Honor: 3 Eagle Scouts received a Good Citizen Award from the Marine Corps League. We have three new Life Scouts (even if only one could make it tonight), and we welcomed a new Scoutmaster, Rev. Anthony Stone!

It has been an honor to serve the troop as Scoutmaster since 2019. I’m so pleased to have worked with so many great youth and families. I plan to continue supporting Scouts in service and personal development as a member of the troop committee as Mr. Stone brings new energy to the New Pal Scouting program.

We were very active today as we lived into our Scout Oath of practicing our “duty to our country” by serving in supportive roles for the Memorial Day services hosted by the Greenfield American Legion Post 119 and the New Palestine American Legion Post 182!

We remember those who have sacrificed so much for the freedoms that we have in our country and we commit ourselves to pursuing liberty and justice for all. 🇺🇸

Camp Woodsmoke has been a go to site for our new Scout outing for about a decade. It is a fantastic site, well managed, and fairly priced!

The fun these boys had is why we keep coming back. Our older Scouts walked them through almost the entire Scout rank in one weekend; they should be done tomorrow! More importantly, they got to know each other and bonded right away.

Love, love, love it! They’re home now, with mom of course. We asked them to notice all the little things mom does for them, with no expectations, and to be thankful for things often taken for granted. Thanks moms, for trusting us with your boys! Happy Mother’s Day.
