This past Sunday, September 20, 2026, New Orleans Councilmember King joined Young Artivists and Trinity City Arts to inaugurate and celebrate the newest civic holiday in New Orleans. We invite the public to celebrate the first-ever YOUNG ARTIVIST DAY, a new civic holiday that fills the “recognition void” on the city’s calendar for young people who are changing the public narrative about themselves and their peers through art.

Y’ALL! Trinity City Arts was SO EXCITED to join and in celebrating Young Artivists’ Day and Marley Duplessis’ Birthday!!

💥 Marley Duplessis and Carolina Guadalupe shared Marley’s incredible artivist poem about Black women’s hair, along with other artivist works from our Morris Jeff High Artivist Club. Check out the awesome presentation in the reel above—you’ll be inspired!

🌊 Young Artivist Day was established by Trinity City Arts with help from Councilmember Freddie King to celebrate the brilliant work of young artivists in New Orleans. The purpose of the new civic holiday is "to inspire more young New Orleanians to become artivists, to celebrate those who already are artivists, and to raise awareness and support in the community for these superheroes in our midst."

For the third year, Dirty Coast’s Benefit Happy Hour invites local businesses and the community to SHOP, DONATING 20% of all in-store sales to Trinity City Arts. The event also celebrates local corporate giving for YOUNG ARTIVIST DAY, and we unveil a NEW T-SHIRT DESIGN for the upcoming 4th ANNUAL ARTIVIST AWARDS on October 24th, featuring art from young illustrators for the upcoming Issue #2 of the Trinity City Comics Universe.
