The next generation of innovators is getting hands-on experience solving real-world challenges. 🌊🔬

This week, STEM NOLA Fellows kicked off an immersive learning experience with Deep Blue Institute at the New Orleans BioInnovation Center. Throughout the week, Fellows will explore how coastal land loss, flooding, and climate challenges impact our region while designing resilient floating platform models alongside industry experts.

Deep Blue Institute is dedicated to preparing future leaders to tackle environmental and infrastructure challenges through hands-on STEM learning. Partnerships like this are critical to STEM NOLA’s mission of building a strong workforce pipeline by equipping students with the skills needed to become tomorrow’s engineers, architects, and problem-solvers. Please join us in congratulating Anala Beevers! From reading before she turned two to joining MENSA at just 4 years old with a 145 IQ, Anala Beevers has always been destined for greatness. ⭐🔬

Her parents knew early on they wanted to provide every opportunity possible to nurture her extraordinary potential — and that journey led them to STEM NOLA, where hands-on experiences helped shape her confidence, expand her passion for science, and ultimately helped her discover her calling in cancer and genetics research.

After recently graduating from Patrick F. Taylor, Anala is headed to Howard University where was awarded a Karsh STEM Scholars Program Scholarship, a program that attracts high-achieving, underrepresented minority students interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). She will study biology and pursue her dream of making a difference through cancer research.

We are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished and honored to have been part of her journey. The future is bright, Anala — and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish next. 💙

Building stronger partnerships to create greater impact. 🤝✨

STEM NOLA recently hosted a Lunch & Learn with New Schools for New Orleans (NSNO), an organization dedicated to ensuring that every student in New Orleans has access to an excellent public education by supporting schools, educators, and innovative opportunities that help students thrive.

During the meeting, Dana Peterson, Alvin David, and Jahquille Ross from NSNO joined members of our leadership team to learn more about STEM NOLA’s mission and continue important conversations around future collaborations, school partnerships, sponsorship opportunities, and expanding access to hands-on STEM education for students across New Orleans.

Meetings like these are critical because partnerships with organizations like NSNO help us strengthen our collective impact and bring meaningful STEM opportunities directly to more students and schools throughout our community.

Together, we continue building pathways for the next generation of innovators. 🚀

STEM NOLA is a force to be reckoned with! 🚗💨

On Saturday, June 13, more than 300+ students K-12, parents, and volunteers came together for Cars! Cars! Cars! STEM Saturday: Force & Motion Day, where future innovators explored the science behind how things move through hands-on STEM learning.

Students put engineering concepts to the test by creating catapults, parachutes, experimenting with speed using ramps, and designing their very own cars — learning firsthand how force, motion, and design work together in the world around us.

A special thank you to New Orleans Recreation Development Commission , the City Of NOLA , City Council, and TrainingGrounds, Inc. for your continued support and commitment to helping us bring free, high-quality STEM education directly to the community.

STEM Saturday is happening now at Joe Brown Recreation Center, where students are exploring the science of force and motion by designing, building, and testing their very own cars.

Through hands-on STEM learning, students are discovering how science and engineering work together while building confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills along the way.

This morning, Austin Owens, an 8th grader from Alice M. Harte Charter School, joined us on WVUE FOX 8 to demonstrate the science behind our catapult experiment and show how force and motion come to life through hands-on STEM learning.

A special thank you to Fox 8 anchor Olivia Vidal and STEM NOLA team member Endia Pollar for helping bring this exciting experiment to viewers across the community.

Curiosity came to life at our Mini STEM Fest at Andrew H Wilson! 🧬🥼

On Wednesday, June 10, 200+ K-8 students from the summer camps at Andrew H. Wilson Charter School and Alice M. Harte Charter School explored hands-on STEM activities including virtual reality, cookie paleontology, slime, Newton's Cradle, lung displays, and more. Through each activity, students were encouraged to ask questions, experiment, and discover the world of STEM in exciting new ways.

Thank you to InspireNOLA Charter Schools for partnering with STEM NOLA to bring engaging STEM experiences directly to students this summer.

Designing the future, one click at a time. 💻✨

On Day 1 of Technology Summer Camp, 28 students kicked off a week of exploring 3D modeling and design. Students were introduced to Tinkercad, a beginner-friendly 3D design platform that allows users to create digital models, develop engineering and design skills, and bring their ideas to life through 3D printing.

After learning the basics of the software, campers got to work designing their very own custom keychains, turning their creativity into digital creations while gaining hands-on experience with the design process.

This is just the beginning of an exciting week as students learn how technology, engineering, and creativity come together to transform ideas into reality. Thank you Chevron and Delta Utilities for investing in the future.
