Upturn Arts Children’s classes are for ages 3-17 and include creative movement, ballet, hip hop, theater and modern dance.

Upturn Arts provides a safe and supportive space for young artists to explore their creativity.

🌟 Donate today to support Adult classes for those over 18 include modern dance and ballet. Upturn Arts continues to run the Upturn Arts Kids program, a youth outreach program that offers FREE (scholarship-based) arts education to more than 300 underserved youth in New Orleans each year, at NOLA Spaces and as part of various existing after-school sites, schools, and community centers around town. Skilled master teachers and artists train students in dance, music, photography, theater, improvisation, creative writing, drumming and yoga, providing young participants with an arts education that builds self-esteem, confidence and the skills that children need to be the next generation of creative thinkers and problem solvers. The students also gain a greater knowledge of New Orleans’ rich arts culture and heritage while expanding their own individual creativity and self-expression.

💃🏽🕺🏽✨ There’s no wrong way to dance.

Just look around an Upturn Arts dance floor and you’ll see it: one child spinning, another jumping, another stretching, another moving to a rhythm all their own.

And that’s exactly how it should be.

Dance gives children the freedom to listen to their bodies, explore movement, express their emotions, and discover their own unique way of creating.

At Upturn Arts, we don’t ask our young dancers to all move the same. We encourage them to find their own rhythm, trust their instincts, and dance with confidence.

When children feel safe enough to move without worrying about getting it “right,” something beautiful happens:

They become free to be themselves. 💙🧡💙

Before the music starts, our young dancers warm up their bodies, find their balance, and get ready to move.

But this moment is about more than preparing muscles. It’s about preparing to create.

At Upturn Arts, children learn that dance isn’t about making every movement perfect. It’s about discovering what their bodies can do, finding their own way to move, and having the confidence to express themselves.

💃🏽🕺🏽 Let’s Dance! National Dance Week is here! 🎶

This week, we’re celebrating an art form that gives children so much more than steps and choreography.

Dance gives children a chance to move their bodies, release energy, express emotions, explore their creativity, and discover their own unique way of moving through the world.

Sometimes a child communicates through a leap. Sometimes through a rhythm, a gesture, a spin, or simply moving to the music with a huge smile.

Dance teaches children to listen, collaborate, take risks, and trust themselves. It reminds them that their bodies are capable of incredible things and that there is no single “right” way to express themselves.

At Upturn Arts, we believe every child deserves the freedom to move without fear of being judged—to dance with confidence, curiosity, and joy.

This National Dance Week, we’re celebrating every movement, every rhythm, every brave first step, and every child who finds their voice through dance. 💙🧡💙

Because sometimes, the best way to express what’s inside is simply to move.

Who says you need alcohol to make a great “cocktail”? Our young artists are about to discover the magic of mocktails! 🌈

On October 12, we’re welcoming Blue Book Barkeeps to Fall Break Camp for a fun, hands-on experience where our campers will learn how to mix, create, garnish, and serve their very own alcohol-free mocktails.

Think colorful flavors, creative combinations, fancy garnishes, and a whole lot of fun! 🍓🍊🍋✨

It’s a chance for our campers to explore creativity in a completely new way—and maybe discover that making a beautiful drink can be an art form, too!
