We, in collaboration with the Promise of Justice Initiative (PJI), Innocence & Justice Louisiana (IJL), and The Juror Project, hosted a panel discussion last Wednesday about Brady violations, its legacy and its impact, particularly in Louisiana.
Almost 63 years ago, in Brady v. Maryland (1963), the Supreme Court of the United States held that prosecutors violate a defendant’s due process when they withhold evidence favorable to the defendant, material to guilt or punishment.
