Check out afscmelocal2349.org/2025-candidate-survey. This summer, AFSCME 2349 members created the first worker-driven candidate questionnaire by a city workers union in recent memory. Our members saw the necessity of the survey to find out where the candidates for New Orleans mayor and city council stood on a host of issues related to city jobs, civil service, quality of life and work, climate change and its impact on city services and worksites, and much more. Workers wanted to know how candidates will respect the union’s recently won Collective Bargaining Agreement and how politicians will work to alleviate the pressures of rising health insurance costs and stagnant wages. Our members also sought answers about how to hold supervisors and managers accountable when they break the rules or violate workers’ rights. We also asked about their support for our labor family in the NOLA Nurses United in their struggle for a fair contract with UMC. Our fates are united, and candidates that support city workers should also support UMC nurses! Check out the survey responses on our site.
