Congratulations to SOAR with LaCOR alumnus Devante Sims!

Devante joined the youth enrichment program at just 15 years old. Through SOAR with LaCOR, he embraced valuable lessons that helped shape his journey into entrepreneurship. Now 21, and mentored by Dr. Delaney, Devante launched his real estate wholesaling business in 2025.

Recently, he met with Heather Troxclair, Branch Manager and Assistant Vice President of Gulf Coast Bank and Trust, to open his business savings and checking accounts. In the photo, Heather and Devante are discussing strategic banking solutions and ways to scale his business while protecting his assets.

We are incredibly proud of Devante and all he’s accomplished—congratulations!

Tonight, LaCOR joined Gulf Coast Bank and Trust and The Jefferson Parish Finance Authority to educate the community on mortgage programs, bonds, and grant programs in Jefferson and St. Tammany Parishes.

The Series 2023 Single Family Mortgage Revenue Bond Program is available to qualify first-time homebuyers who want to purchase a home in Jefferson Parish and need assistance funding their down payment and closing cost. Soft 2nd Mortgage programs. Participants learned a ton of information for purchasing a home. Sign up on our website www.nolacor.org.

We are dedicated to servicing undeserved people from impoverished communities. Our primary focus is committed to justice-involved citizens with special needs. However, we have serviced all citizens. The commitment to persons with special needs while transitioning into the community attempts to fill a missing link in services rendered in broken communities. Over the year of 2018, we serviced over 100 formerly incarcerated persons with emphasis on veterans, HIV/AIDS impacted, women, LGBTQI, and mentally disadvantage find housing through supportive services.
