Sooo Today WWGS Youth went on a Field Trip to LSU Hilltop Arboretum where they went on a walking tour and identified native plants that were oh So Beautiful. The Youth identified plants from a pre-made sheet in preparation for the trip to the native plant 🌱 nursery.

We then had lunch outside and headed to Beaver’s Abundance Native Plant Nursery where they chose native plants 🪴 that they chose from the sheet to plant around the sign of the Stormwater Lot on Chef Menteur Hwy, which is also on a Hurricane Evacuation Route Hwy.

What a fun filled Experience 🌱🪻🪴

IT IS TREE PLANTING TIME
NOEGIC and our partner Water Wise Gulf South will be planting trees THIS WEEK to help curb The Urban Heat Island Effect which is the #1 Killer in the WORLD
Trees have lots of Benefits including
Slowing down global warming, generating oxygen, preventing soil erosion, reduce air pollution, improve soil quality, provide a source of food for wildlife, protect crops from the weather, improve groundwater table, and are important for the Over-All Wellbeing of Humans. Studies show that trees can reduce crime, lower Blood pressure, reduce heart attack risk, and also that children that grow up in environments with trees have higher IQ’s & better behavior than those who do not have them growing up.
Lastly trees are proven to help mitigate the urban heat island effect, reduce stormwater runoff, improve air quality, and boost mental and physical health. When the right trees are planted in the right places, they can also reduce traffic noise, increase property values, and lower ENERGY cost for homeowners.
If you live in New Orleans East and would like to plant a tree in your right of way send me a message

Entergy New Orleans is possibly going to enter a deal to sell it's
Gas and Fossil fuel to a private firm who intends on expanding the use. This deal has a high potential of impacting New Orleans in a negative way. Rate increases will be a part of the deal, as well as the expansion of Gas and Fossil Fuel, in which New Orleans is trying to use less or not at all. This will impact the overall quality of life for the communities involved.

For residents and businesses who use gas, expect to see an increase.
