One Monday later, it’s still hard to put into words the overwhelming joy and love we felt last week at the bridge.

This event, an effort to save Lundi Gras festivities on Bayou Saint John and in Mid-city, came together in a way we could have only hoped for. Prior to the parade, a lot of folks asked what the theme would be. Looking back, the overarching sentiment was TOGETHERNESS. Families, friends, and neighbors, representing cultures from across the world, united together through music, song, and dance. It was spiritual, magical, natural, and beautiful. And we absolutely cannot wait to do it again next year.

Thank you again to the amazing people and groups who joined together, including , , , and . Congratulations again to our extraordinary deserving first Saint Monday honoree, Jeanne Claire. And thank you to EVERYONE who came to celebrate with us.

Lastly, an event like this lives and dies by its documentation, and we were so incredibly fortunate to have some very talented photographers there, as well as FOX8 news. We’ll be sharing more photos to come, but all photos in this album come from our great friend .

Whether you call it the Bayou Bridge, Cabrini Bridge, Magnolia Bridge, or just the Blue Bridge - we’d love to see you there at noon tomorrow.

Put on your most colorful Lundi Gras attire and get there a little early to make sure you have a great spot to see performances by some of our city’s most outstanding krewes. We’ll also have a blessing by Nana Sula Spirit to begin the event.

Then you’re invited to ramble with us on our (updated) route, dancing to the music of our krewes to each of our official stops at Midcity’s finest: Pal’s, Holy Ground, and Finn McCool’s.

We absolutely can’t wait to see you tomorrow for this new celebration of culture and Saint Monday.

We were saddened to learn that there would no longer be a Lundi Gras parade beginning at the beautiful Magnolia (Cabrini) Bridge, but as they say: “Cada fin es un nuevo comienzo”… every end is a new beginning.

Lucha Krewe is proud to announce that we‘ll be carrying on the Mid-city Lundi Gras parading traditions with something new. Something… spicier.

Introducing the Bayou SAN JUAN SOCIAL CLUB!

At noon on Lundi Gras, Lucha Krewe will be joined by our friends from , , and others for some special performances by the bridge, followed immediately by an informal crawl to some of our favorite Midcity establishments.

Keep an eye on this space this week for special announcements about participating bars, other guests, and everything you’ll need to know so that we can keep Midcity the place to be on Lundi Gras afternoon.

Long live Saint Monday.
