Last week's Framing Character session started with a build day prep exercise: apprentices took turns giving a blindfolded partner clear directions and calling out hazards. On a job site, clear communication is a safety skill.

Then Alex, an architect from Concordia Architecture, Planning, & Community Engagement , stopped by to talk with the apprentices, and a Procore Technologies Learning module introduced them to reading construction drawings.

Last Wednesday was build day one for our Twin Cities Fall Sprint cohort. Accurate cuts, bolt holes in just the right place for the bottom plate anchors, and some perseverance nailing into the knottiest board our site lead says he's ever seen. Good first day, crew.

A few months ago, we shared that our apprentices had finished our biggest project to date -a 2-story duplex as an affordable rental opportunity for our youth and community in New Orleans. It's been fully occupied for weeks.

Thank you to Pelican Playgrounds, a member of our NOLA Industry Circle, donated two custom bike racks to our campus, and to our youth who installed them!

The project is a big part of why Pelican earned a badge at our Birthday Bash. Thank you, Pelican Playgrounds!

Thank you to everyone who came out for the Birthday Bash.

Guests put on hard hats, bid on auction packages, and left orange handprints on our campus wall. Thank you for showing up for the youth who build here.
