Over the 2024–25 program year, Alaa and Manal tackled barriers to higher education for first-generation students by launching T'Aleem for All. Their program provided virtual ACT prep and medical school application support, helping students pursue their dreams. Through partnerships with public libraries and schools across New Orleans, they reached high schoolers who needed it most.

It's giving Tuesday! Join us in supporting the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship - New Orleans as we work towards developing a pipeline of emerging professionals who enter the workforce with the skills and commitment necessary to address unmet health needs.

Current Fellows, Alaa Malik (LSUHSC School of Medicine '25) and Manal Malike (Tulane University School of Medicine '26) are addressing access to higher education in first generation students by establishing T’aleem for All. The program will include ACT courses, college application workshop, and a medical school application workshop to make higher education more accessible to first generation students.

Help to support leaders like Faradia Kernizan by donating today!

Faradia created NOLA Derm Education when she learned that the rates of a rare skin cancer, Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma (CTCL), had been on the rise in the Black population living in Louisiana. NOLA Derm Education was able to address the lack of skin health education that is geared towards people of color in the greater New Orleans area by providing patient education about conditions that primarily affect people of color during community events.
