Mission:
Nola to Angola organizes an annual bicycle ride to Angola Prison to support and fund the Cornerstone Builders Bus Project, which connects families to their incarcerated loved ones. We also organize a shorter social justice ride around New Orleans to highlight the work of community partners fighting mass incarceration. We educate people about the ways in which mass incarceration works in t

andem with other systems of oppression, such as poverty and white supremacy, to disproportionately harm members of our communities. We do this through collective organizing, as well as leading training rides and educational events. We prioritize partnering with organizations led by formerly-incarcerated people and people of color, and work to support their leadership on prison justice issues.

Registration for our 2024 ride is now open! You can register for the ride at nolatoangola.org or at https://forms.gle/2W...

Registration for our 2024 ride is now open! You can register for the ride at nolatoangola.org or at https://forms.gle/2W76yhVnnYTcq8Us5.

This year marks the continuation of our three-day ride, from Friday, October 18th, to Sunday, October 20th, with an additional one-day option. The three-day ride will be a 170-mile ride going up the levee towards the Angola Prison, culminating in an optional visit to the Angola Prison craft fair. The one-day ride will be a 35-mile ride on Friday, October 18th, to the Bonnet Carré Spillway, where we will provide a ride back to New Orleans after lunch and engaging discussions with our guest speakers.

As always, every mile pedaled is a show of solidarity with those who travel long distances to visit their incarcerated loved ones. Proceeds from our fundraising efforts this year will go directly to Cornerstone Builder’s Bus Project, a local organization supporting people impacted by incarceration by providing free transportation to Louisiana prisons.

We kindly ask each participant to raise $300 for our organizational partner, but this requirement can be waived upon request. In addition, there is a registration fee of $100 for the three-day ride and $25 for the one-day ride to cover event expenses. We don’t want money to prevent anyone from participating, so scholarships and stipends for lost wages are available based on need.

For the 2024 Ride, we will conduct registration through a lottery system. We will prioritize Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and individuals directly affected by incarceration. By completing the form linked below, you will be adding your name to the lottery, which will take place on July 15th.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at [email protected].
We are looking forward to seeing you on the road. Here’s to another year of solidarity, community, and change!
