On Saturday, May 9th, the Kiwanis Club of St.Bernard-Arabi held our annual Terrific Kids and Terrific Teens Pancake Breakfast at the CHS 9th Grade Academy Cafeteria. The Terrific Kid and Terrific Teen program, sponsored by Valero Energy, can be found in all St. Bernard Parish Public Schools and OLPS. The program recognizes students for their good citizenship, and promotes character development, self-esteem, and perseverance. Hundreds of Terrific Kids and Teens along with family members attended the event. During their breakfast, students were again recognized by name and a round of applause. Afterwards, students enjoyed face painting and games provided by the CHS Key Club, and they had the opportunity to hand make Mother’s Day gifts through various arts and crafts, including a bookmark craft table, where parents could also learn more about the availability of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library for younger siblings. The St. Bernard Parish Fire Department had the smokehouse available for children to explore. And, a photo booth was available for families and friends to memorialize their time together. A huge thank you to Valero Energy for their sponsorship of this program, and Chalmette High School and their support staff, without whom the event wouldn’t be possible. Kiwanis would also like to thank SBPFD, Brown’s Dairy, Community Coffee, Classy Chaos, and all of the volunteers for their critical support in making the event so special for our Terrific Kids and Terrific Teens! Congratulations to all of the recipients - We are all so proud of you!
