DSEF NOLA DINERRAL SHAVERS EDUCATIONAL FUND:
Advocating for ARTS, CULTURE, ANTI-VIOLENCE, & EDUCATION in the city of New Orleans

The Dinerral Shavers Educational Fund is a non- profit 501(c)3 organization founded in March of 2007. This organization was created in memory of Dinerral Shavers, an educator, musician, entrepreneur, and New Orleans Civil Sheriff. Since his passing, the Dinerral Shavers Educational Fund has assisted thousands of New Orleans citizens and in turn gained a massive followership. DSEF has hosted several programs and initiatives to promote youth empowerment, community development, and enhanced educational opportunities in the city of New Orleans. Additional to its annual Scholarship Essay Contest, School Supply Giveaway, College Tour Event, and Career and College Fair, DSEF has plans to implement several new programs and initiatives in the year of 2013. Dinerral Shavers’ story and the notable works of this organization has been featured on 48 Hours Mystery’s Storm of Murder, CNN’s One Crime at a Time, Spike Lee Documentaries When the Levees Broke and If God is Willing: a Requiem of Four Acts, and most recently the 2nd season of HBO’s hit series Treme’.

NOLA, THANK YOU for showing up! 🎒💕

To every family who came out to the DSEF Back to School Extravaganza—we hope you left with full bags, big smiles and even bigger memories. ✨

Join us TODAY!!! Yes, we’re helping New Orleans families get ready for school—but the DSEF Back to School Extravaganza has always been about something more.

It’s about a child getting that fresh haircut and feeling good about themselves. ✂️ It’s about families connecting with resources. It’s about music, games, laughter and creating a day where our young people feel supported, prepared and celebrated.

Because when a community shows up for its children, we’re sending a message:

We see you. We support you. And we’re rooting for you.
