Here's one of our Budget Ambassadors, Caroline Vanchiere, sharing her favorite part of our inaugural Budget Ambassadors Training Program!

Caroline is a Program Manager at RecycleDat, a grassroots coalition that manages recycling efforts throughout Mardi Gras parade season, helping keep our celebrations a little greener. She's also the founder of her own consulting firm, Change By Design Consulting, where she helps businesses find practical, cost-effective ways to reduce their environmental impact.

To introduce our new program, we're spotlighting yet another alum making a real and tangible impact on the people of New Orleans and our future.

Meet Jarred Jupiter: educator, civic leader, and native New Orleanian. Our Leadership Forum gave him the foundation, and since graduating, he's put that knowledge to work, now serving on the Audubon Commission and the Police Community Advisory Board for the 3rd District.

Jarred's path is exactly what we hope to see more of, and it's why we're co-hosting Step Up & Lead on September 18th with the Louisiana Center for Voter Education, Serve Louisiana, and the Greater New Orleans Foundation. This event connects young professionals and people of color with real opportunities to serve on the City of New Orleans' boards and commissions, whether your passion is housing, transportation, economic development, or arts and culture.

This is CBNO's founding moment. And in the generations since our founding, we've equipped thousands of civic leaders with the context, power, and confidence to lead our City through its toughest challenges.

On December 10th, 2026, we're bringing generations of civic leaders together to celebrate that impact, reconnect, and build the future of diverse, connected and empowered community leadership in New Orleans. Save the date!

Meet the team! đź‘‹

For the next few months, this is who you'll be seeing (and hearing from) around CBNO.

Neomi Washington is our AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator, bringing her background in advocacy and social inclusion to our outreach work.

Kaylie Nhan is our Program Coordinator, a Tulane student studying Political Science and Social Policy + Practice, with a focus on public policy, education, and equitable transit.

And joining us full-time is our new Program Manager, Kevin Kellup! Kevin brings eighteen years of experience across public systems, including the Recovery School District, AmeriCorps, and City government, most recently leading the Neighborhood Leaders' Roundtable and Civic Leadership Academy with the Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office. He's a native New Orleanian, stepping in to lead and strengthen our civic education programs.

CBNO is turning 60 this year, and we're celebrating by spotlighting the leaders who've shaped New Orleans.

Here’s one alumni that is making a real, tangible impact on the people of this city and its future.

Meet Shirani: as Director of Communications & Outreach at Ride New Orleans, she works to keep rider voices at the heart of transit decisions and ensures residents have the information they need to get around the city. She spearheaded the effort behind the Opportunity Pass, which brought free transit access to over 11,000 young people. We applaud Shirani for her dedication to community engagement and transit advocacy!

Over the next few months, we'll be sharing more stories like hers, celebrating 60 years of civic leadership in New Orleans.
