We believe in being part of a community of mutual aid, in which we all support each other, both in our personal work and in the work we do collectively toward bringing about structural change, for we see the growth of the individual and of the community as inextricably intertwined. We believe that healthy people are able to engage in their communities, and, reciprocally, that strong communities ar
e likely to foster engaged individuals. We believe in struggling, learning, creating, and playing together. We want Haus House to be simultaneously a place of refuge and a home of inspiration, like a dynamic nest where we can hatch ideas and manifest our intentions in action. The space consists of two rooms. One is a studio where community members can offer services like massage therapy, Reiki, and other bodywork. We come together on a regular basis to make collective decisions about the space, to share skills, and to support each other as we develop our practices. The other room is a free, communal, multi-purpose space: a home away from home. People might read books from our library, have afternoon tea, take or teach a workshop, hold a meeting for their organization, or just relax and take a break from the stresses of everyday life. We will offer regular group meditation and a weekly day of silence. We also host special events in the space, such as reading groups, arts and crafts evenings, acoustic music shows, storytelling, and poetry readings.
