How incredibly lucky are we that Outreach Tulane! helped HTC staff and volunteers BEAUTIFY our space by scrubbing showers, restrooms, surfaces, clearing cobwebs, pulling weeds, and making our site as pretty as possible for our guests. Special thanks to Phi Delta Epsilon at Tulane for comprising most of our student volunteers! We loved meeting you!

Also a round of applause is warranted for Depaul USA New Orleans and The Harry Tompson Center staff and volunteers for braving the heat and leading the effort!

Nate’s last call for showers was today and we are so sad to be saying goodbye to such a fantastic person. Nate’s 25-26 Jesuit Volunteer Corps service year wrapped today and we can’t believe it went by so quickly. Nate has been a huge asset to HTC, providing compassionate care to our guests and always rising to the demands of the day. He shared with us today that when he started he knew the work would be rigorous but he didn’t realize it would also be so rewarding. He reflected that there was a time he was worried he wouldn’t get to know 100+ guests names the way our prior JV Emma Talken had. But sooner than he thought he not only knew our guests by name but knew their preferences and could accommodate them. Nate is an amazing person and gave every single volunteer and visiting group his attention while still prioritizing our guests. We will miss him tremendously and wish him the best of luck as he seeks new opportunities working with vulnerable communities. nathaniel we salute you! 🧡💙💛

Thank you The City Of New Orleans for opening the Rosenwald Center to shelter our unhoused neighbors through Tropical Storm Bertha. We are encouraging guests to go to Rosenwald this evening and have flyers and maps to direct folks there. Stay safe everyone!

💈Haircut day is always a big hit at the Center and it was the perfect activity for this particularly rainy morning. Our amazing volunteer stylists provided 20 haircuts, giving each recipient a moment of much-needed rest and reprieve. Thank you Terry, Shane, & Allie for helping our guests look and feel fresh 💈
