is an Adaptive & Disabled Sports Organization that is a Move United Adaptive Sports Chapter, based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Currently, the SMCL Paralympic Sport Club of New Orleans hosts three annual events:
- Health Fairs - We partner with local healthcare professionals, colleges and universities, and businesses to provide health, wellness and fitness information and awareness for members
of our community.
- Paralympic Experience - People with disabilities from all over the Gulf Coast region come to learn about and play wheelchair sports such as basketball, softball, etc.
- Field of Hope Event: This event includes the annual Christmas Classic wheelchair basketball tournament featuring the New Orleans Rollin' Hornets, a Toys for Tots five away, and the SMCL awards banquet. Also, the Paralympic Sport Club of NO hosts adaptive sports, recreation and fitness training. S.M.C.L. affiliate, New Orleans Rollin' Pelicans Wheelchair Basketball Team practice every Thursday night from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 PM, at Delgado Community College. These weekly events are open to all people with disabilities. For more information about our annual or weekly events, please contact us. The PSC of New Orleans is working with other local organizations to increase awareness about wheelchair and adaptive sports as well as implement other athletic programs. Through these partnerships, the next few sports that will be introduced to the New Orleans community are wheelchair fencing and adaptive volleyball.
