Louisiana's Lost Legacy: Lorenzo Dow Turner's recordings of Creole and French from 1935.

Join Chinbo and NOAAM, as we welcome Dr. Oliver Mayeux of the University of Cambridge to discuss the findings and release of these groundbreaking recordings and Dr. Mayeux's full article.

Dr. Mayeux will be joined by Clif St. Laurent of Chinbo, with a Q/A led by the Deputy Director of the New Orleans African American Museum in the historic Tremé neighborhood.

We’re excited to announce something special!

If you’re familiar with our summer immersion program, then you already know how deeply we value language, culture, and community.

This coming Creole Heritage Month, Chinbo is honored to launch its first residential and commuter-friendly immersion camp in New Orleans. We are especially proud to be the first organization to offer this type of residential Kouri-Vini immersion experience.

This unique program will give participants the opportunity to engage with Kouri-Vini while experiencing the rich culture, history, and spirit of New Orleans.

We are proud to create this kind of immersive, Creole-centered experience and look forward to welcoming participants for a meaningful and unforgettable program.

Kouri-Vini/Louisiana Creole in K–12 education, you say? Mé gaddé don! 👀

Are you an educator, culture bearer, certified teacher in the state of Louisiana — or someone interested in helping bring Louisiana Creole into our schools? Then this message is for you.

Chinbo is making history, and we want YOU to be part of it. We have been working tirelessly to bring Louisiana Creole into public classrooms across Louisiana — and now it’s time to build the community of educators who will help make it happen.

We are seeking native speakers, heritage speakers, and fluent community members interested in helping launch our first pilot programs. Your experience, your knowledge, and your voice matter.

While priority will be given to native and fluent speakers, anyone with a working knowledge of the language is encouraged to participate.
