The Chapter is made up of alumnae residing in the Greater New Orleans Metro Area; It is one of many chapters, national and international, participating in the South Central Region and on the national level. Alumnae work together to support Spelman College, the national association (NAASC) to sustain efforts in educating young women.

Today, we celebrate Eboni Walker, a proud member of the Spelman College Class of 2002, whose career reflects a deep commitment to education, leadership, and the development of young learners.

Eboni has served as an Educational Consultant with Learning Matters LLC since 2019, bringing extensive experience in the Primary/Early Childhood education industry.

Her expertise includes:

Eboni earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Child Development from Spelman College in 2002 and later earned her Master of Education in Early Childhood Education and Teaching from Georgia State University in 2004.

Beyond her professional contributions, Eboni continues to give back to her Spelman community. 💙 She proudly serves as Member-at-Large on the Board of the NAASC New Orleans Chapter, helping to support the chapter’s mission and strengthen the bonds among Spelman alumnae in our community.

From the gates of Spelman to shaping the educators and programs that nurture our youngest learners, Eboni exemplifies the power of education, leadership, and service.

Today, the NAASC New Orleans Chapter is shining the spotlight on one of our remarkable Spelman sisters, Karen Lodrig, Spelman Class of 1974! ✨

A proud French major during her Spelman years, Karen has a story that reflects the creativity, sisterhood, and community spirit that make our alumnae so extraordinary.

🎭 A Spelman–Morehouse Players Connection

While at Spelman, Karen was an active member of the Morehouse-Spelman Players, where she had the opportunity to work alongside talented performers and artists including Samuel L. Jackson, Bill Nunn, Ken Lee, and LaToya Richardson.

And here's one of our favorite fun facts about Karen:

👑 She was voted “Ms. Senior” by the Morehouse College seniors during her senior year! Talk about Spelman excellence and Spelman–Morehouse connection! 💙❤️

A proud New Orleanian, Karen graduated from McDonogh #35 High School in 1970 before continuing her educational journey at Spelman College.

Today, Karen remains deeply connected to the New Orleans community, where she is known for her commitment to giving back and frequently works to raise funds supporting youth programs throughout the city.

From the stage at Spelman to service in the city she calls home, Karen continues to demonstrate that our education is not simply what we receive—it is what we do with it.

Today, the NAASC New Orleans Chapter proudly celebrates our very own Dr. Tracey Murry, a distinguished Spelman alumna, accomplished clinical psychologist, and Vice President of the NAASC New Orleans Chapter.

A proud Spelman College Class of 2009 graduate, Dr. Tracey earned her degree in Psychology while establishing a remarkable record of academic excellence. During her time at Spelman, she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Kappa Chi National Scientific Honor Society, and Psi Chi National Honor Society, and became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Eta Kappa Chapter.

She continued her education at Howard University, earning a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology in 2011, followed by a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Saint Louis University in 2016.

Since 2019, Dr. Tracey has served as a Clinical Psychologist specializing in Psych-Oncology at Ochsner Health in New Orleans. At the Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center, she provides adult psychological evaluations and evidence-based therapy to individuals contemplating or undergoing cancer treatment, cancer survivors, and family members of cancer patients.

Her work reminds us that cancer affects far more than the body. The emotional and psychological impact on patients, survivors, and families can be profound—and Dr. Tracey brings specialized expertise, compassion, and evidence-based care to help them navigate that journey. But her commitment to service doesn't stop in the clinical setting.

💙🩵 Dr. Tracey also serves as Vice President of the NAASC New Orleans Chapter, where she helps lead our chapter and advance our mission of sisterhood, service, scholarship, and community impact. We are incredibly proud to call her Sister Spelman and grateful to have her leadership within our chapter.

💙🩵 MEMBER MONDAY SPOTLIGHT 🩵💙

Today, we are shining the spotlight on one of our phenomenal Spelman sisters, Dr. Angela Graham-Williams, PhD, LPC-S, LLP — affectionately known as “Dr. Angie”! ✨

A proud Spelman College alumna, Class of 1995, Dr. Angie has spent more than 25 years advancing behavioral health through clinical practice, executive leadership, higher education, entrepreneurship, and community partnerships.

Her educational journey includes a Bachelor’s degree from Spelman College, a Master’s degree from Western Michigan University, and a Ph.D. from Sofia University.

As the Founder and CEO of Dr. AGW PLLC, Dr. Angie provides faith-integrated counseling for women seeking freedom from anxiety through evidence-based therapeutic interventions grounded in biblical truth. Her approach recognizes the powerful connection between the mind, body, and spirit, helping women move beyond survival toward lives marked by peace, purpose, and emotional resilience. ✨

Since joining the Xavier University of Louisiana family in August 2021, Dr. Angie has served as Director of the Counseling and Wellness Department, providing leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Counseling and Wellness Services.

From the classroom to the counseling room, from executive leadership to entrepreneurship, Dr. Angie continues to use her gifts to educate, empower, and elevate others.

We are honored to celebrate the woman, leader, healer, and difference-maker she is.

CHAPTER MEMBERS — WE NEED YOU!

The NAASC New Orleans Chapter is partnering again this year with the Lower 9th Ward Voter’s Coalition for the High School Civic Initiative! 🗳️

Together, we’re helping strengthen civic engagement among our young people — and we need chapter members to volunteer to staff upcoming high school voter registration drives.

Before volunteering, members are asked to attend the Coalition’s Annual Orientation Session, featuring representatives from the Registrar of Voters Office, Clerk of Court Office, and Election Division.

The orientation will cover:�✨ Election law updates�✨ Voter registration procedures�✨ Best practices for third-party voter registration�✨ Initiative expectations & volunteer opportunities�✨ Resources to help us maximize our collective impact

Today, we proudly celebrate Judge Rachael D. Johnson, Spelman College Class of 1998, and congratulate her on her re-election without opposition to the 1st District of the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal on August 7, 2026! 👏🏾⚖️

Judge Johnson’s impact extends far beyond the courtroom. She has served in leadership roles with numerous legal and community organizations, including the Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program, A.P. Tureaud Chapter of the American Inns of Court, Louisiana Judicial Council/NBA, Paul S. Morton Scholarship Foundation, Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, Second Harvest Food Bank, and The Links, Incorporated.

And, of course, we proudly recognize her service as a past vice-president of the NAASC New Orleans Chapter. 🩵💙

Judge Johnson carries forward a remarkable family legacy as the daughter of Retired Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Bernette Joshua Johnson, Spelman Class of 1964.

A proud alumna of Spelman College and the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, Rev. Angie has devoted her career to nurturing communities of faith, empowering young people, and leading with grace and purpose.

This week, the NAASC New Orleans Chapter proudly celebrates Stephanie Atkins, a Spelman sister whose passion for the arts, community, and cultural preservation continues to make a lasting impact throughout New Orleans and the South. 🎨

A visual artist, former educator in the Orleans Parish School District, and visionary nonprofit leader, Stephanie joined the National Performance Network (NPN) in the months following Hurricane Katrina, when New Orleans was beginning the long journey of recovery.

Her dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to community have guided an extraordinary career of growth and impact. Today, as Director of Southern Programs, Stephanie leads funding initiatives and cultivates opportunities that empower artists and communities of color across New Orleans and the South. She helps ensure that artists not only survive but thrive, preserving culture, amplifying diverse voices, and strengthening communities through the transformative power of the arts.

Stephanie's journey is a powerful reminder that leadership often begins with a willingness to serve. Thank you, Stephanie, for your vision, your service, and your unwavering commitment to creating opportunities that enrich our communities and celebrate the power of creativity.
