The Chapter is made up of alumnae residing in the Greater New Orleans Metro Area; It is one of many chapters, national and international, participating in the South Central Region and on the national level. Alumnae work together to support Spelman College, the national association (NAASC) to sustain efforts in educating young women.

“SpelHouse” is more than a nickname.
It represents the unique and historic bond between Spelman College and Morehouse College—two neighboring HBCUs whose students, alumni, traditions, and communities have shared generations of experiences.

Spelman and Morehouse have a long history of shared traditions include Homecoming activities.

👑 Since 1936, Spelman women have been crowned Miss Maroon & White, Morehouse College's Homecoming Queen.

💙 Building the next generation of Spelman Women

This past Saturday, the NAASC New Orleans Chapter was honored to host a Spelman College Preview Session right here in New Orleans!

These sessions are such an important part of Spelman’s work to connect prospective students and families with the College—providing an opportunity to learn more about Spelman, explore academic and campus opportunities, and get valuable information about the admissions process, financial aid and scholarships.

A very special THANK YOU to our chapter sister Kelly Batiste for graciously opening her beautiful space and welcoming us into her school for this special occasion. Your generosity and hospitality helped create the perfect environment for this important conversation. 🩵

And to our amazing NAASC New Orleans Chapter volunteers who showed up on Saturday—thank you! From preparing the space to welcoming guests, assisting with the session, and helping everything run smoothly, your time, energy and commitment made a difference.

We are proud to stand alongside Spelman College as ambassadors, mentors and advocates for the next generation of Spelman women—and we are especially proud to do it in New Orleans.

💙🩵 MEMBER MONDAY SPOTLIGHT: IVORY CLARK — A WOMAN OF PURPOSE. A LEADER IN EDUCATION. A SERVANT LEADER. 💙🩵

Meet Ivory Clark, a proud Spelman alumna, accomplished education leader, and dedicated servant of the NAASC New Orleans Chapter.

A 2011 Spelman College alumna, Ivory earned her B.A. in History, before continuing her education at Xavier University of Louisiana, where she earned her Master of Arts in Elementary Education and Teaching.

Ivory has served as an elementary and middle school educator, Assistant Principal, Principal in Residence, and Principal in New Orleans schools. The Louisiana Department of Education previously recognized her leadership and work in instructional development, assessment creation, mentoring educators, and Social Studies curriculum.

Today, Ivory serves as a National Achievement Specialist with McGraw Hill, supporting educational achievement and working in the education space across Louisiana and Alabama.

Ivory serves as our Corresponding and Recording Secretary, helping keep our chapter connected, organized, informed, and moving forward.

From Spelman classrooms to New Orleans schools to educational leadership, her journey reminds us that leadership isn't always about having the loudest voice in the room. Sometimes it's about being the person who organizes, communicates, teaches, mentors, serves—and makes sure the work gets done.

WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE WEDNESDAY

✨ Celebrating Jasmine Morton Robinson ’99

Today, the NAASC New Orleans Chapter proudly shines the spotlight on one of our own — Lady Jasmine Morton Robinson, Spelman College Class of 1999! 🩵

A woman of faith, purpose, leadership, and legacy, Jasmine Morton Robinson continues to use her voice and her gifts to inspire, encourage, and uplift others.

As Co-Pastor of Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans, Jasmine serves alongside her husband, Bishop T. Delbert Robinson, ministering to the church and community through teaching, mentorship, worship, and service. Jasmine and her husband, Bishop Robinson, share four children and one grandchild together.

The daughter of Bishop Paul S. Morton and Dr. Debra B. Morton, Jasmine carries forward a powerful legacy of faith and leadership while creating a legacy of her own. Her ministry reflects a commitment to helping others navigate life with faith, courage, and purpose.

Her gifts extend beyond the pulpit. In 2026, Jasmine was featured alongside her father and brother, Grammy Award-winning artist PJ Morton, on the inspirational single “Go Through,” adding her distinctive voice to a musical testimony of faith, perseverance, and resilience.

From the Spelman College Class of 1999 to her continued service and leadership in New Orleans, Jasmine exemplifies what it means to educate, empower, and elevate.💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us for last night’s chapter meeting—your presence, energy, and commitment are what make our chapter so special.

We had a wonderful time reflecting on all of the exciting moments since our Summer Student Send-Off, and it was especially meaningful to welcome new members and returning sisters into the room. Your engagement reminds us that our chapter continues to grow stronger together.

We are filled with excitement, pride, and purpose. The momentum is building, and we are so inspired by all that we will accomplish as a chapter this year.

🩵💙 Member Monday Spotlight: Esperanza Kennedy Sullins, Class of 1970 🩵💙

Today, we celebrate Esperanza Kennedy Sullins, Spelman College Class of 1970 — a woman whose life reflects the power of education, family legacy, entrepreneurship, service, and compassion.

Esperanza is the daughter of Ulpiana Pacio Kennedy-Sims and stepdaughter of George Frank Sims, whose legacy in the funeral service industry helped shape a remarkable family tradition of service.

After earning her Funeral Service degree from Delgado Community College in New Orleans, Esperanza became licensed in Mortuary Science in 1991. She returned to the family business and has spent decades serving families with professionalism, dignity, and compassion.

Today, Esperanza is a Co-Owner and Funeral Director of Berry & Gardner Funeral Home in Meridian, Mississippi, working alongside her brother, Robert Kennedy, to continue the family’s longstanding legacy of service. The historic funeral home has been recognized as one of the oldest African American funeral homes in the nation and was inducted into the African American Funeral Home Hall of Fame in 2010.

Her commitment to service extends beyond her professional life. Esperanza is also a charter member of the Pontchartrain Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, reflecting a longstanding connection to civic and community engagement.

Today, we proudly celebrate Esperanza Kennedy Sullins — Spelman Woman, Class of 1970. 💙
