Today, Operation Restoration Policy Specialist Andrés Acuña addressed the New Orleans City Council regarding proposed budget cuts to the city’s low-barrier shelter.

During his remarks, Andrés highlighted the potential impacts on women experiencing homelessness, including increased displacement, criminalization, and incarceration, as well as the financial burden these cuts could place on the city.

At Operation Restoration, we remain committed to advocating for housing access and policies that support women and girls impacted by the criminal legal system.

Accountability should never come at the expense of humanity.

As we reflect on the circumstances surrounding Christa Pike’s case, we are reminded that trauma, compassion, and human dignity must never be overlooked, especially when a life is at stake.

At Operation Restoration, we believe accountability and compassion can coexist.
