Because of you, lawmakers heard directly from the people most impacted by their decisions.

Over the course of this legislative session, community members from across Louisiana showed up, spoke out, shared their stories, and demanded to be heard. Whether you attended a committee hearing, submitted testimony, made a phone call, sent an email, or helped spread the word—your voice mattered.

Advocacy is strongest when it comes from the people living the realities of these policies every day. Together, we reminded elected officials that government works best when it listens to the people it serves.

Thank you to our coalition partners, community leaders, advocates, and supporters for standing with us in the fight for a more equitable Louisiana. This work continues, and we’re grateful to be in it with you. 💙

The people spoke. The vote was clear.

In November 2025, Orleans Parish voters elected Calvin Duncan with 68% of the vote to serve as Criminal District Court Clerk. Yesterday, the Louisiana Supreme Court upheld SB 256 (Act 15) in a 4-3 decision, allowing the merger of the Civil and Criminal Clerk offices and eliminating the position before he could take office.

The decision means the newly consolidated Clerk’s Office will remain under the leadership of Chelsey Napoleon, and voters will not have another opportunity to elect a clerk for the merged office until 2029.

In a powerful dissent, Chief Justice Weimer warned that eliminating an elected office days before the elected official takes office “makes a mockery of the electoral process by completely obliterating the constitutional effectiveness of the people’s vote.”

Regardless of where you stand, every Louisianan should care when the outcome of an election is erased after voters have already spoken.

We believe democracy works best when government is accountable to the people—not the other way around.

Stay informed. Stay engaged. Stay ready. ✊🏾🗳️

Last week, members from the community stood hand in hand and again, urged their Louisiana representatives not to vote for a map that dilutes black representation.

Unfortunately, the State House passed SB121 while ignoring the community’s objections.

Ms. Germany, an elder in this work took some time out to talk to us about what this means to her.

🗺️ Fair maps were possible.

Throughout the redistricting process, community members, voting rights advocates, and coalition partners called for a map that would keep communities together, split fewer parishes, and provide meaningful opportunities for voters to elect candidates of their choice.

The coalition-supported map demonstrated that Louisiana did not have to choose between fair representation and sound redistricting principles. It showed that communities of interest could be preserved, transparency could be prioritized, and voters could remain at the center of the process.

As we continue to educate, organize, and advocate, we remain committed to a simple belief: Louisiana deserves maps that reflect its people—not politics.
