Join NCJW in partnership with JPNOLA (Jewish Pride NOLA) and Forum for Equality at this special screening of the documentary Disclosure with a Q & A panel discussion to follow.
Trans Awareness Week is held on November 13th-19th every year to help raise awareness of transgender, gender diverse and non-binary people, the issues facing our communities, and the ways people can get involved as allies to improve lives and create a more fair and equal world for everyone. As such, we invite you to stay for the Q&A with prominent local trans and LGBTQ+ rights activists that follows the film.

“Disclosure is an unprecedented, eye-opening look at transgender depictions on film and television, revealing how Hollywood simultaneously reflects and manufactures our deepest anxieties about gender.Leading trans thinkers and creatives, including Laverne Cox, Lilly Wachowski, Lance Ford, Mj Rodriguez, Jamie Clayton, and Chaz Bono, share their reactions and resistance to some of Hollywood’s most beloved moments.”

This event is free but you must register at jewishnola.org/disclosure

Join us for a special afternoon at the New Orleans Museum of Art. We’ll be meeting at 12 p.m. for an optional Dutch treat lunch at the museum’s café. We will then explore the exhibit starting at 1pm with a private docent-led tour. The NOMA exhibit features landscape photographs made by women artists working in the United States since the year 1900.

Contact Vivian Cahn at [email protected] with any questions.

Please register for this program by October 23 by registering at ncjwneworleans.org or contacting Vivian. Admission is free for NOMA members and Louisiana residents, but you must register so we can ensure the proper number of docents. Please remember to bring your Louisiana ID for free admission.

Over 150 Jewish organizations have united against proposed cuts to SNAP and Medicaid. Our shared values demand we protect vulnerable Americans, not cut essential lifelines while advancing tax breaks for the wealthy.

Keshet and National Council of Jewish Women condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the Presidential Actions signed yesterday which threaten to jeopardize the safety and dignity of trans, nonbinary, and intersex people, and the LGBTQ+ community more broadly. On Inauguration Day — a day that should have been dedicated to uniting our country — the President instead chose to try to divide us

Let us be clear: we are all created in God’s image, B’tzelem Elohim. These actions are designed to instigate fear and hatred. Executive orders are not law — they will be challenged. The Jewish community overwhelmingly supports LGBTQ+ equality and is committed to protecting, supporting, and welcoming the LGBTQ+ community. We will fight this harmful discrimination in the courts, in Congress, and through the regulatory process, with our many coalition partners to ensure equality and justice

National Council of Jewish Women Statement on Start of Negotiated Hostage Release Deal

The following statement is attributed to Sheila Katz, CEO of National Council of Jewish Women:

“An agreement to secure the release of the hostages, increase humanitarian aid, and lead to an end of the war is a welcome and necessary development after 15 months of devastation. Our hearts ache for the women, children, and families who have borne the unimaginable weight of this conflict. This agreement offers a fragile but critical glimmer of hope amid the darkness.

Yet, we know this news does not bring about instant relief. As families wait in agony to find out if their loved ones will be released or are even still alive, we urge all parties involved to remain steadfast in moving every phase of this agreement forward without delay. Every single person held hostage must come home.

While we are grateful, our work is not done. We must continue to build toward a future where all women, children, and families are protected, and where peace is not just a fleeting moment but a lasting reality. May all the hostages come home, and may we all soon know peace.”
