Inspired by their post-Katrina Toxic Art Exhibit at l'art Noir New Orleans, Jeffrey Holmes and Andrea Garland founded the St. Claude Arts District in October, 2005, along with the two other existing galleries on St. Claude Avenue - the Farrington Smith Gallery and Barrister' Gallery. While l'art Noir New Orleans and Farrington-Smith Galleries are now defunct, over the ensuing years numerous galler

Protect yourself AND someone else with one of our fabric masks - for each one sold, one is donated!

In accordance with best possible practices for handmade fabric masks, our masks have a sewn-in Polypropylene filter - the same material used in medical grade N95 masks - sandwiched between two layers of tightly woven cotton. If you want even more protection, a variation with a pocket for an additional filter is available.

Available for pickup locally in New Orleans or shipped via USPS Priority Mail.

SCADNOLA.com and SaintClaudeArtsDistrict.com are for sale.

A few stats: Domain names have been registered and in use since 2007. Despite no longer being kept up on a regular basis, website still receives on average 2,000 - 4,000 visits per month and has 2nd placement in Google search for "St. Claude Arts' District."

Asking price is $600 for both domains together, but will entertain "best offers" as I'd like to sell these sooner than later so I can invest in my own artistic endeavors. This is a package deal, domains will are not for sale individually.

On the other hand, If anyone is interested in helping support reviving the website with monthly gallery listings, etc., I am willing to entertain the idea. After creating, maintaining and updating the site along with paying all associated fees out of pocket for ~ 7-8 years, I am no longer in a position to do so due to my own health issues and other personal circumtances.

Please contact me at dreagarland [at] gmail.com if interested.

What is it exactly that defines art? Now this is a question which has no absolutes, and stands on plenty of relativistic theory. After all, one man’s meat is another man’s poison, and in this case, what might seem to […]

The small-scale oil paintings and gouache/graphite drawings included in this exhibition explore the artist’s personal, physical, and emotional relationships with her own self and with other human beings. Using abstraction, Rodriguez references figures or bodies that literally adhere to the surface of the painting or drawing, much like bacteria and viruses invade and adhere to the body and blossom into lesions, or people adhere to one another in sometimes-dangerous ways.

"Utilizing both clay and wood as a surface to draw on, this new collection reflects upon the dichotomy of a desire to be part of community and the unexplainable allure of wild solitude. Juxtaposing ceramic functional forms with reclaimed asymmetrical natural wood panels, I seek to weave a narrative about modern interaction, loss, and loneliness. While modern technology has brought civilization into an era of global awareness, it has also served to isolate and dehumanize communication. These images are a product of reflection upon my own experiences in seeking to define my role in the suburban sprawl while entertaining secret dreams of retreating to a state of feral hermitage." - Amber Chambers
