It’s never too early to start planning for the future.

Transition planning is about more than preparing for graduation. It’s about helping individuals with autism build skills, confidence, self-advocacy, and meaningful opportunities for adulthood.

This TACA guide breaks transition planning down by age 🧠

🔹 Before 14: Build communication, social, and daily living skills while beginning to explore future goals and needs.
🔸 14–16: Explore career interests, self-advocacy, independence, and future education or training options.
🔹 16–18: Strengthen transition goals, build financial and life skills, and prepare for the move into adult services.
🔸 18+: Connect with adult services, explore employment and postsecondary opportunities, and consider legal and financial planning needs.

Every individual’s path to adulthood looks different. Starting early gives families and individuals more time to identify strengths, explore possibilities, build skills, and create a plan for the future.

We invite you to join in the fun of the Neurolyrical Cafe!
This online space is the stage for spellers to share their latest poetry, songs, art, stories, and music. To wrap up the night, all attendees answer a short prompt that turns into a collaborative poem.

Presenting is NOT required to participate. We'd love you to come to cheer on fellow spellers.

However, if you do want to share, here are the guidelines:

✏️ Please submit your presentation materials to [email protected] by Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
✏️ For written pieces, please include in the email if someone will be reading on your behalf or if I-ASC should assign a team member to do so.
✏️ We welcome all creative submissions: Art work, poetry, songs, performance videos, etc. If you submit a song, please include the lyrics for increased accessibility.
✏️ To make sure we have enough time for this in every Cafe, we are limiting each person to ONE piece each. If you do an individual piece but also have a group piece, this is still okay to submit.
✏️ If this is your first time presenting or you have an upcoming birthday, let us know so we can celebrate with you!
