Ascension DePaul Foundation New Orleans formerly the Daughters of Charity Foundation New Orleans is the philanthropic advocate for Ascension DePaul Services New Orleans and DePaul Community Health Centers providing high–quality, comprehensive, holistic, affordable health care for all members of the community. ealth care ministries began in New Orleans in 1834 assuming management of Charity Hospital. They founded and managed Hotel Dieu Hospital from 1859 - 1992. From 1996 through today, Daughters of Charity Services New Orleans offered a new holistic primary and preventative care model through the establishment of community health centers. Today, we operate eleven federally qualified community health centers in Orleans and Jefferson parishes. We have outreach programs and partnerships with over 24 private and public schools and a dozen nonprofits to provide wrap around services for the most vulnerable populations. According to the Louisiana Department of Health, 86% of parishes in our state are "Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas," meaning the majority of Louisiana residents lack access to the dental care they need. DePaul is actively working to change this by providing dental services at three of its locations, helping underserved individuals and families receive the care they deserve. This includes pediatric dentistry, ensuring children can access early, preventive treatment that sets the foundation for lifelong health.
